Varsha Vinod is the world's youngest black belt in karate, having earned her black belt at age five in 2009 from the Ko-In-chi Academy of Martial Arts in India.[1][2] After sparring with her, British karate champion Juan Moreno declared, “She is the ultimate karate kid. It’s hard to remember she is just five, her skills and concentration are amazing.” [3]
She began training at age two, and has learned 15 katas.[4][5] She has also learned to use the yawara stick, or chinese stick, and nunchucks.[6] Her father is a karate instructor.[7]
