Time in Venezuela
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Venezuela uses the UTC-4:30 timezone, commonly called Venezuelan Standard Time (VET) and legally referred to as Hora Legal de Venezuela (HLV) or Venezuela's Legal Time.
Until 2007-12-30, 06:59.59 UTC, Venezuela used the UTC-4 timezone.
The official time zone of Venezuela is determined by meridian 67° 30' west of Greenwich, UK. This meridian divides the country into two almost symmetrical areas and represents a -4:30 hour offset from Greenwich Mean Time (meridian 0°).
UTC−4:30 was formerly the official time zone in Venezuela from 1912 to 1965, when the government changed it in order to adopt meridian 60° (UTC-4), which passes through Punta de Playa, Delta Amacuro state.
