Aragonese Viceroys[edit]

From 1418 to 1516 Sardinia was ruled by viceroys from the Kingdom of Aragon, which merged into Spain in 1516.

Spanish direct rule, 1516–1714[edit]

At the end of the War of the Spanish Succession, by the Treaty of Rastatt (1714), Sardinia was ceded to Austria.
