STAR Vijay (Tamil: ஸ்டார் விஜய்; commonly known as Vijay TV) Tamil general entertainment television channel based in India. Star Vijay channel is part of 21st Century Fox's STAR India network. The shows include a mix of family dramas, comedies, reality shows, shows on crime and movies.

History[edit]

The channel is owned by Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox The Best Channel through STAR TV and Fox International Channels.

Popularity and competition[edit]

STAR Vijay has produced numerous popular reality shows, including Jodi Number One, Airtel Super Singer, Neeya Naana, Adhu Idhu Edhu, Neengalum Vellalaam Oru Kodi and Nadanthathu Enna. It hails successful serial such as Kaviyanjali, Sambha, Maharaani, Kana Kaanum Kaalangal, Roja Kootam, 7c, Anbe Vaa, Dharmayutham, Katthu Karuppu, Khakhi, Madhurai, Pirivom Santhipom and went on to sponsor Yuvan Shankar Raja's first live in concert in Chennai.

The annual Vijay Awards ceremony, commemorating artistic and technical achievements in Tamil cinema, has been hosted by STAR Vijay since its inception in 2006.

In most of the movies in Vijay TV, instances of bloodshed are blurred in order to reduce violence.
