Vikram Chatwal (born 1 November 1971 in Addis Ababa) is an American hotelier. In April 1999, at the age of 28, he created Vikram Chatwal Hotels, an independent hotel group of nine luxury hotels in five cities.[citation needed] Set to have 14 Hotels in total by the end of 2009, the flagship hotel in the group is Dream Hotel.[citation needed]

Chatwal is of Indian Sikh heritage. His father, Sant Singh Chatwal is an Indian-American businessman. Chatwal was born in Addis Ababa and his family moved to Montreal in the Seventies and then to New York in the 1980s, where his father invested in fine dining and hotels.[1] Chatwel attended the United Nations International School in New York City,[2] and is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.[3] After graduating from university he worked for Morgan Stanley.[4] His father, Sant Singh Chatwal, founded Hampshire Hotels and Resorts.
Chatwal was named as one of the world's most eligible bachelors by a BBC television program the magazine Radar. He appeared in the movie One Dollar Curry and became the first Sikh model to appear in Vogue.[4] He was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year at the first South Asia Media Awards in New York in June 2005,[5] and on June 19, 2006 he was featured on the cover of Forbes Asia.[6].

In 2005, it was announced that Vikram Chatwal would marry Indian model Priya Sachdev.[7] The multi-million dollar wedding celebrations took place in February 2006 was spread across ten days and three Indian cities, Mumbai to Udaipur and Delhi, and was attended by 600 guests from 26 countries who were transported on private chartered jets.[8] Guests attending the wedding included steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal,[9] model Naomi Campbell,[9] Patricia Velásquez,[2] rapper P Diddy,[9] HRH Prince Nikolaos of Greece,[2] and several Indian celebrities.[9] Former American President Bill Clinton toasted the couple.[2]

In February 2010 it was reported that Chatwal had attended a rehab facility for treatment of alcohol addiction.[10]
In August 2010 it was reported Chatwals flagship property the Dream Hotel in Manhattan was scheduled to enter foreclosure proceedings within 90 days if he did not make payment on a $99 Million mortgage.[11]
