Ville Mönkkönen (born 1983) is a Finnish PC game programmer and painter. He is working on his next game, Driftmoon. Ville runs the game studio Instant Kingdom. In 2010 the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture awarded Ville the 50 000€ Sammon Tekijät Award for creativity and innovation.[1]
Mönkkönen's games have settings that range from fantasy to science fiction. They all include art created by himself, some of which can be seen at his Elfwood-gallery.[2]
Notrium, his latest game, is at version 1.345, and has a number of mods available for download. His first two games were released in Finnish, and the rest in English.
In 2006 Ville Mönkkönen graduated from the University of Jyväskylä, Faculty of Information Technology. He holds a Master's degree in Computer Systems Science, specializing in Software Engineering.
