Vilnius District Municipality is one of 60 municipalities in Lithuania. It surrounds the capital on 3 sides, and the Trakai District Municipality touches it on one.

About 63.5% of the municipality population were Poles before 1991.[1] As of 2011, ethnic Poles amounted to 52.07% out of 95,348 inhabitants, according 2011 census, as well as 32.47% Lithuanians, 8.01% Russians, 4.17% Belorussians, 0.65% Ukrainians and 0.11% Jews.[2]
