[edit] History

Vodien Internet Solutions was founded in 2002, and was then registered as a sole proprietorship under the business name of "Vodien Studios"[2]. Bill Poh, the founder of Vodien, started the company off providing graphic design, web design and web development services.

From 2005 to 2007, Vodien underwent a company restructuring that saw the removal of several business functions and services. In August 2005, Vodien Studios renamed itself Vodien Internet Solutions to signify the change in its core business, and to differentiate itself from its previous entity. In the upcoming months, Vodien started purchasing infrastructure and equipment, and began to specialise in the web hosting services area. [4]

[edit] Incorporation

On July 30 2009, the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore approved the incorporation of Vodien Internet Solutions Pte Ltd, a registered private limited company that retained the name of the sole proprietorship. [5]

[edit] Corporate Headquarters Move

On August 1 2009, Vodien announced that it will move its corporate headquarters from 71 Ubi Crescent Excalibur Centre to 40C Hong Kong Street in Singapore. The company said that it moved to offer a more central location for its customers and operations, and to its key technology partners, suppliers, and to house the human resources needed for its growth, both domestically and internationally.

Vodien's current board of directors include:

  • Bill Poh
  • John Lee

As of Nov 16 2009, Vodien currently hosts more than 1,000 domains and has a market share of 1.2501% (Country) and 0.0014% (Global). [7]

These resources are required for the stable and reliable operation of the global Internet. As of 2009, Vodien is an accredited member of APNIC. [8].

[edit] Partnerships

One of the technology partners that Vodien has went into a partnership with to strengthen its infrastructure and core service is Parallels, Inc.. Parallels, Inc.'s server product Virtuozzo is used in Vodien's hosting environment to achieve a high virtualization density [9].

Vodien offers Continuous Data Protection (CDP) services that use technology from R1Soft. CDP, also called continuous backup or real-time backup, refers to backup of computer data by automatically saving a copy of every change made to that data, essentially capturing every version of the data that the user saves. It allows the user or administrator to restore data to any point in time. [10].

Vodien also has a partnership with Dell, in which Vodien exclusively uses server hardware from Dell. This partnership covers the Dell Poweredge Servers, Dell PowerConnect Switches, and Dell PowerVault Highly Available Modular Disk Storage Arrays. [11].
