Vredestein Banden B.V. is a Dutch-Indian manufacturer of tires for cars, commercial vehicles, tractors and bicycles. The company is independent of other large tire manufacturers and describes itself as "middle-sized". The corporate slogan is "Designed To Protect You". The company is renowned for its close cooperation with the famous Giugiaro Design studio, which designs all Vredestein tires in the high segments of the tire market (e.g. high performance summer and winter tires). Vredestein was acquired by the Russian company Amtel in April 2005, becoming part of the Amtel-Vredestein Group. Amtel-Vredestein was declared bankrupt in April 2009; Vredenstein Banden BV was acquired in May by the Indian manufacturer Apollo Tyres Ltd.[1]

The company is now called Apollo Vredestein BV,[2] and the primary factory is at Enschede, The Netherlands, while other products like agricultural tires and bicycle tires are manufactured overseas (e.g. India, Thailand, Indonesia). Apollo Vredenstein have just bought 6 new presses for the production of high quality tires with a plan to buy 18 more over the next few years to make the production volume more than 5 million tires.

Vredestein bicycle tires compete with traditional brands such as Michelin and Continental, especially for road use. Their premium Fortezza TriComp racing tire for clincher rims is capable of running at pressures approaching that of a tubular tire. The Vredestein Sprint Classic line is developed for classic cars, using the latest technology in a period design.
