WDMV (700 AM, "DC Radio 700") is a Talk formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Walkersville, Maryland, serving the Metro Washington area. WDMV is owned and operated by Birach Broadcasting Corp. Until 2002 AM 700 had been WWTL with an Arabic music/talk format, but in the aftermath of 9/11 a quick change to conservative talk "WGOP" happened. This lasted for a few years when the WGOP calls moved to sister station AM 540 on the Maryland eastern shore, and AM 700 became WDMV. Today the station is leased mainly airing "Washington Business Radio" targeting the Washington DC market.

[edit] Technical information

WDMV shuts down at sundown to protect clear channel WLW, which also broadcasts on AM 700. AM 700 has applied for a power increase to 50,000 watts and move the transmitter site to Poolesville (along with sister station AM 540, which is currently on the eastern shore). But due to red tape, the application is still sitting and another application has been submitted to increase WDMV to 50,000 watts from its current Walkersville site. Nothing has happened on either application to date.

[edit] Shutdown

WDMV went off the air on February 6, 2009. Its operator, National Radio Corportation, has filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
