[edit] Song information

"Walk"'s 12/8 time signature creates a distinctive "walking" rhythm and it contains one of guitarist Dimebag Darrell's most famous riffs and solos. The main riff was written while the band was warming up for a show on guitarist Dimebag Darrell's practice amp when Phil Anselmo shouted, "We gotta write some s--t for this new album." Dime immediately started playing the opening riff, and Vinnie tapped the drums on the wall. They were filming for the home video and caught it all on tape to remember the riff.[1] The song's lyrics talk about individuals who the band considered to be "posers" and who pretended to be part of the heavy metal scene, but were not really into it. The band saw them as people who were just trying to be trendy.[1] The cover for the single is a screenshot of the band's "Mouth for War" music video.

[edit] Release

The song was released as the fourth and final single for the band's Vulgar Display of Power LP in 1993. The band also released a number of EP's and remixes for the song in 1993 including:
