Wang Wang and Funi are two Giant Pandas on loan to Adelaide Zoo in Australia. [1][2][3] The pandas are on loan for ten years, part of a conservation program to protect endangered wildlife.[4]

History[edit]

The name Wang Wang (Chinese: 网网) means "net" in Chinese. He weighs 119 kg. The female panda is Fu Ni (Chinese: 福妮) in Chinese, which translates as "lucky girl". She weighs 90 kg. They were quarantined on 21 October 2009 ready for their trip to Australia[5] and relocated to Adelaide, South Australia, in November 2009. The pandas joined Earth hour as official ambassadors in 2010.[6]
