War Generation is a name applied to the young Russian poets whose youth was spent fighting in the World War II and whose best poems reflect upon wartime experiences. Some of them actually died during the German-Soviet War; others lived to an advanced age but, as Semyon Gudzenko predicted, died not from old age but from old wounds.
