Werrington County is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Werrington County is located 50 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Penrith and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. This relatively quiet suburb is mostly residential and middle class.

Werrington County was part of the area of the Darug people in pre-European times. In 1806, Werrington County was part of a land grant to Mary King, the youngest daughter of Governor Philip Gidley King. Werrington County was then farm land until the early 1980s when house lots were sold for the present day houses in the suburb. The primary school was established in 1982 and then relocated within the suburb in 1988.

Werrington County is geographically at a higher altitude than most other suburbs in the Penrith area. Werrington Creek runs on the eastern border of the suburb. Werrington lake lies on the southwestern corner of the suburb.

Werrington County is home to daycare centre, Werrington County Public School, a shopping village, two petrol stations, the Henry Lawson Club, the Namatjira Neighbourhood Centre and tennis courts.

Werrington County has quick and easy access to the Penrith CBD by travelling west on Dunheved by car which takes roughly five minutes or residents can travel west along the Great Western Highway which takes roughly longer. The St Marys CBD is also as quickly and easily accessible if they travel east on Dunheved road by car.

Public transport

Westbus provides 2 services around the Werrington County area. Route 780 travels along Dunheved Road past the Werrington County Shopping Centre before travelling to either Penrith or Mount Druitt railway station,[1] while Route 782 travels around Greenbank Drive and Henry Lawson Avenue before travelling to either Penrith or Werrington railway station [2]

Werrington County is part of the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council Area.

At a local government level, Werrington County is part of the north ward of Penrith City Council, represented by Lexie Cettolin, Kevin Crameri, Ross Fowler, Pat Sheehy (mayor of Penrith) and John Thain. At the state level, it is part of the Electoral district of Londonderry, represented by Liberal Bart Bassett. Federally, it is part of the Division of Lindsay, represented by Labor Party member David Bradbury.
