Western Mongolia

Western Mongolia (Oirat-Mongolia) is a historical region where live Oirats and Western Mongolia was Zunghar Khanate's northern territory. Now Western Mongolia covers Bayan-Ulgii, Khovd, Uvs provinces of Mongolia and northern Xinjiang.

Western Mongolia has been ruled by the many Mongolic states such as Xiongnu (209 BC-93 CE), Xianbei state (93-234), Nirun Khaganate (330-555), Kara-Khitan Khanate (1125-1218), Mongol Empire (1206-1368), Golden Horde, Chagatai Khanate, Moghulistan, Northern Yuan (1368-1691), Four Oirat (1399-1634) and Zunghar Khanate (1634-1758).
