WhatsUp Gold (WUG) is a network management and monitoring software produced by Ipswitch, Inc. WhatsUp Gold recently acquired Dorian Software, a maker of security event and log management products for Windows environments.[1]

WhatsUpGold is sold in three different editions:

  • WhatsUpGold Premium
  • WhatsUpGold Standard
  • WhatsUpGold Distributed

Along with the core products Premium, Standard and Distributed, system administrators also use the following plug-ins to monitor and manage their networks[2]:

  • WhatsConfigured for automated network device and configuration file backup, restoration and storage and automated change management processes.
  • WhatsConnected, a layer 2/3 network discovery tool that provides the ability to depict, visualize and document device connectivity within the network down to the individual port.
  • WhatsVirtual provides management of physical and virtual environments from a single console.
  • Flow Monitor provides insight into network bandwidth and capacity utilizations.
  • Flow Publisher extends the capabilities of Flow Monitor to offer insight and visibility into the network traffic for every device.
  • VoIP Monitor delivers the capability to monitor and report on a network’s capacity to support and maintain acceptable call quality for Voice over IP (VoIP).

WhatsUpGold recently launched free Engineer's Toolkit, which is a collection of tools for daily network diagnostic, troubleshooting, and monitoring tasks.
