"Whenever I Call You 'Friend'" is the title of a song written by Kenny Loggins and Melissa Manchester which Loggins recorded for his 1978 album Nightwatch. Issued as a single, "Whenever I Call You Friend" reached #5 in the autumn of 1978.

"Whenever I Call You Friend" is a duet with Stevie Nicks who though credited on the album track is not credited on the single making "Whenever I Call You Friend" in effect Loggins' first major solo hit.

The song's co-writer Melissa Manchester recorded the song for her 1979 album Melissa Manchester the track being a duet with Arnold McCuller.

Michael Johnson recorded "Whenever I Call You Friend" for his 1997 album Then & Now the track being a duet with Alison Krauss.

In 2014, Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz (as Artie Abrams and Tina Cohen-Chang) covered the song in TV series Glee, season 5, episode 9 "Frenemies".

Patrick Thomson and Kat Perkins sang the track during the 2014 season of the NBC musical program The Voice.

In 1981 Jeane Manson recorded a French rendering of "Whenever I Call You Friend" entitled "Amitie et Amour": a substantial portion of Loggins' vocal from the original recording was grafted onto the track which - credited to Jeane Manson & Kenny Loggins - reached #54 on the French charts.
