Why Does The Sun Shine? (The Sun Is a Mass of Incandescent Gas) is an EP by They Might Be Giants. The recordings are all covers, excluding "Spy" which is later featured on the album John Henry.
The title song is also included in the CD Carmen Sandiego: Out of This World and their 2009 album Here Comes Science, on which they added the self-penned "Why Does The Sun Really Shine?" to correct factual inaccuracies in the original song, which confuses gas with plasma.
