- Nanjing University - list of alumni need to be split off into those who went to National Central University Nanking, National Central University Chungking, and the current Nanjing University]]
- Why should the same university in different names or places to be split? National Central University changed the name to Nanjing University in 1949, and between 1938-1945 during the war against Japan, it moved to Chongqing and moved back to Nanjing again in 1946.
- No, the university itself split. First, between 1938-1945 there was one National Central University in Chongqing and another one remaining in Nanjing. Second, since 1949, there has been a Nanjing University in Nanjing and a National Central University in Taiwan. We can't call them all the same institutions. Treat them separate. --Jiang 08:13, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Good idea. But for the alumni of Nanjing University, what need to be split is the alumni of University of Nanking(金陵大学) and alumni of Nanjing University(南京大学) since they were two defferent universities before 1952. And the Christian University of Nanking(金陵大学) was merged into Nanjing University(南京大学) in 1952, so now Nanjing University(南京大学) also take the alumni of University of Nanking(金陵大学) as its alumni. As for other names such as Liangjiang Normal College, Nanjing Higher Normal Institute, National Southeastern University, National Central University, etc, they all were historic names of Nanjing University and they mean the same institution. During sino-japanese war, Nanjing University(before 1949 the name was Central University) moved to Chongqing in 1937 (and moved back to Nanjing in 1946), another National Central University was established in Nanjing in 1940, generally we called it Nanjing Central University 1940-1945. Here one alumi of it (Jiang Zemin) is listed. Although before notes were made on the special alumi(including alumni of attached/affiliated schools and alumni of Central University 1940-1945), it's not categorized, especially not to split the alumni of the Christian University of Nanking. Now there are subcategories of Alumni of University of Nanking and Alumni of attached/affiliated schools/institutions to make it clear. Dictioner 06:10, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)
