Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen

This page was originally for listing cut and paste moves which could not be repaired due to a then-extant technical limitation. The limitation has since been removed, but this page is still available if you find a cut-and-paste move, and are not able to repair it yourself (there is a procedure for doing it, but 1. only admins can do it, and 2. it's a bit tricky).

Currently the only technical limitation is that category and file description pages can't be moved.

The procedure

• Place a {{histmerge|NAME OF PAGE THE ARTICLE WAS CUT FROM}} template at the new location of the article which has been moved through cut and pasting, i.e. on the article where the pasting was done.
• If the issue is clear-cut (straight up cut and paste move to a better title), having this speedy delete tag on the page should be enough. In more complex cases (explained at Wikipedia:How to fix cut and paste moves), please leave a description of the problem under the "Repair requests" section.
• An admin will look the pages over and perform whatever tasks are necessary.
• Once this is done, the admin will post the result here.
• Old requests will be removed after 30 days.

Article history subsequent to 21 June 2002 is of a redirect, and not part of the Grand Duchy. • Leonard Betts (The X-Files) is a recreation of an article that used be be at Leonard Betts, that was merged away into a list. So the new article should contain the history of the old article. The old article history ended in 2009, the new article started in 2011 so there is no overlapping history. • Canadian comics/version 1 splice to Canadian comics -- no significant overlapping edit history. The old article should not have been made inaccessible by moving a user's sandbox into its location. If everytime someone rewrote and article and replaced the edit history, people would find it impossible to find old versions of articles. Every article would look like they were created recently.
