New Yoga Article[edit]

Hello Everyone

I would like to ask some advice about creating a new article about an organization. This is a school of yoga called Advanced Yoga Practices. This draws on the eight limbs of yoga in an Open Source format. The lessons are published online and are completely free. I believe there are several thousand users subscribed to the groups. I feel this would make a valuable addition to the sections on yoga/spiritual practice and that AYP is now at a level of notability that may merit inclusion in Wikipedia. The group is global with its main geographical sources being the USA and Canada, the UK, Germany and India.

Yahoo Group page - [1]

I have done a bit of research and the following links, I hope, show notability.

I would welcome any advice about whether this would be acceptable before going ahead with a short article, in which I would post the links below also.

Many thanks

The Yahoo group for Advanced Yoga Practices is ranked first among Yahoo Yoga Groups [2]

The other links are to radio interviews and articles in newspapers.

Hi. Sorry for the delay in response; this board is, unfortunately, not heavily frequented. One thing that I notice in looking at your sources is that a good many of them are actually published on the aypsite itself, including both radio interviews and two of the newspaper articles. Unfortunately, this doesn't meet verifiability policy, since the website is a self-published source. (Their replication at ayp is also a problem for copyright concerns.) That leaves you with one North Carolina newspaper, a blog and a school newspaper...which is not so much by way of sourcing that I would feel confident creating the article. With WP:ORG (the notability guideline that would govern this), widespread reliable sourcing documenting notability would be very helpful. That said, I'm not at all familiar with yoga. You might get a more informed response if you ask for feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Alternative medicine or one of the other wikiprojects listed at Talk:Yoga. Good luck. --Moonriddengirl2 (talk) 01:50, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proton Studio is a broadcast editorial company headquartered in New York City, which was founded in 2008 by editor Keith Olwell and executive producer Elizabeth Kiehner[1], later hiring San Francisco-based editors Nathan Petty, Edward Feldman, and Erik Johnson[2].

Working primarily on television commercials, Proton Studio pioneered the concept of the "virtual studio" whereby the editors often relocate and work remotely with clients and agencies outside of New York City[2].

Proton Studio's credits include notable commercials for Tomtom, Microsoft, Charles Schwab, and State Farm[2].

Hi. That article would be governed by the notability guideline WP:ORG. Basically, what you need to demonstrate notability are reliable sources that are not connected to the company. Currently, you seem to have two press releases, which unfortunately are not usable for that purpose. If you can locate newspaper articles, magazine profiles, coverage on reliable industry websites, that would go a long way towards verifying that this company meets inclusion guidelines. Otherwise, it looks very well formed, though in keeping with our neutrality policy you would need a disconnected source to assert that the company had "pioneered" something. --Moonriddengirl2 (talk) 01:58, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New Article - Ellis Jones[edit]

Hi I want to start new article about actor Ellis Jones. You can have a look what I created here [10]. Your thoughts are more than welcome. Thanks Zaikovskis (talk) 21:29, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. That one seems like it might have possibilities, though I know all too well the frustration of trying to find sufficient reliable sources to verify notbaility of somebody whose primary claim to fame predates the internet. (I've done a lot of articles on jazz music.) He looks to have had a significant role in two long-running television shows, presuming that his imdb profile is correct. One of the tests of notability for creative professionals: "Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television, stage performances, or other productions." The question here is whether those shows were significant. Looks like yes: The Squirrels (TV series), Pardon My Genie. (Not that the existence of those articles is definitive by any means, but they help.) If you can increase coverage in other sources, such as newspaper articles or magazines, that would be great, but I think the subject has a shot. :) (One note: your last sentence, while pithy, is really not within the spirit of Wikipedia, which is going for that whole "formal encyclopedia" thing.) --Moonriddengirl2 (talk) 02:13, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New Article -- Tina B. Tessina, PhD[edit]

As a psychotherapist and author of 13 books published in 16 languages, with five American publishers, I am widely quoted both in print media, and on the web. I would like to request that my biography be included in wikipedia. My user page TinaTessina, has a draft of such an article, citing references. How do I go about getting into Wikipedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TinaTessina (talk • See the article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinatessina/autobiographycontribs) 02:00, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. First thing I will note is that your userpage profile is lacking the kind of reliable, secondary sources that you will need to verify notability per WP:BIO, the guideline that covers notability of people. To get an idea of the kinds of sources that Wikipedia looks for, please take a look at Wikipedia:Verifiability and the related document Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Basically, we like sources that have no special interest in the subject (not, for instance, a book publisher's website) and that are known for editorial review. Newspaper articles and journal articles are ideal. Also good are reliable websites, like Salon. Presuming that all of the assertions on your userpage can be verified through such sources, you should handily meet the notability guideline.
The next thing to overcome is Wikipedia's generally strong aversion to conflict of interest editing. To avoid your article being tagged for "COI", you will want to be scrupulously careful with neutrality. I have seen people producing articles on subjects close to them propose them at the conflict of interest noticeboard, where volunteers familiar with our COI guidelines may review them and weigh in on their suitability. This can help avoid problems down the line. (See also our guideline on autobiography.)
As you are not an experienced Wikipedian, I'll point out that all the colored text in my reply leads to various policies and guidelines that you might find useful. If you were already aware of that, please forgive my overexplaining. --Moonriddengirl2 (talk) 02:23, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New Article - Daisy Ann Gonzalez[edit]

Hi I want to start new article about a Filipino artist Daisy Ann Gonzalez. Link User:Rainiacl/dg. Any suggestions are welcome. Rainiacl (talk) 06:26, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Rainiacl, and thanks for joining us! First, a question: are you Daisy Ann Gonzalez? I ask because you uploaded the photo of Woman with Lotus under the claim that you are the copyright holder. If you are the subject of the article you intend to write, please carefully consider Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy before further editing. If you are not Mrs. Gonzalez, that image file will have to be deleted because, as a derivative work, it violates copyright.
Furthermore, your draft article is a nearly verbatim copy of this website, which means it cannot be used unless the copyright holder gives permission under the GFDL or a similar license; please see Wikipedia's copyright policy. If you are the copyright holder of that website, or have permission from the copyright holder, you can authorize its text for Wikipedia use; please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for further details, or ask again on this page if you have questions. In the meantime, I'm listing User:Rainiacl/dg at the copyright problems notice board.
You may be better off starting from scratch, writing in your own words. To survive, your article will need reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article, that establish the subject's notability. WP:CREATIVE gives more specific notability guidelines for artists; please also read our policy regarding biographical material about living persons. I suggest you look for books and magazine or newspaper reviews commenting on the subject's art; if you can find reliable sources discussing her role as Philippine Lady Ambassador and art gallery proprietor, that would be useful as well. Please write back if I can be of any further assistance, or if you have any questions. Best wishes, Baileypalblue (talk) 12:04, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First of all thank you for your time. No I'm not DGonzalez. I personally saw her art collections and heard her history and I though it's worthy of being in the Wikipedia. I was thinking of starting with her and troll through her family tree (all artist). I will modify the text and ask permission from the author for the image. I will place it here again when I'm done. Rainiacl (talk) 02:10, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article's tone is like a press release, promotional and unencyclopedic. See WP:AWW and WP:NPOV. Julia Rossi (talk) 10:46, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

military subversion[edit]

there are many forms of subversion in most military organisations referenced through forms of: mutiny, disobediance, disrespect, and discrediting ones integrity and or charicter. The connotation of subversion is usually viewed as sedition even though by definition subversion can be applied to the victim of subversion as well as to the perpertrators where as sedition is generaly targeted at a large orginization or government.

Hi, there is not much context in this article yet. You might like to look at Subversion (politics) because it seems there is already an article about this. Regards, Martinmsgj 11:18, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
