  • "began to play" - could eliminate "to" without changing the meaning
  • "61 wins, 67 losses and 1 tie" - link Win (baseball), Loss (baseball), Tie (draw)
  • "games at League Park" - comma after
  • Four consecutive sentences in the second para start with "They". I suggest changing some to avoid repetition.
  • "at Riverfront Stadium" - comma after
  • "They have a record of three wins and one loss in Opening Day games on the road." - the Reds have only opened the season on the road four times in 100+ seasons? (If this is actually true, that's so not fair.)
  • Repetitive third para: "...for the Reds", etc. You could say for Cincinnati, perhaps, to break this up.
  • "the Reds Opening Day starting pitcher" - should be Reds'
  • No need to repeat White's first name again in the final paragraph
  • Any reason a lot of the references link to the season game logs instead of to the box score for the opening day game, when available?

  • This probably comes up once per nomination, but "In their history, the franchise has " is a swift change from plural (discretionary?) to singular.
  • "is an honor, which is given to" I would either ditch the comma or make it "honor, given to..."
  • How come they've had 125 home ODs and only 4 away ODs? (that's a question, not a criticism or anything!)
  • I don't see where [3] and [4] are telling me those games were "Opening Day" games.

  • Fixed. The third point I've been looking around for myself, because it's both interesting, and interesting that no one seems to talk about that. My guess is that since it's a very old team, they have seniority and get to play at home first. On the last point, when clicking the links, it shows the team's records at (0-1) or (1-0), implying that it's the first game of the season. If that's not good enough I'll change the refs.     I'd prefer an explicit link to one which I'd need to be a baseball "expert" to derive the information, if you don't mind. As for point 3, keep looking! I think it's quite remarkable (and being a football supporter for a club that's been around since the 1930s, it's unusual - we tend to be alternate on our home/away starting day games....)
