Guild of Copy Editors' requests page[edit]

The goal of the Guild of Copy Editors is to improve articles in the English Wikipedia that are tagged for copy editing using the {{copyedit}} template, and by maintaining the category of articles needing copy edit. This page is where you can list requests specifically for copy editing.

Instructions for making a request[edit]

To make a request, use the following format:

Comments ~~~~

  • Please put new requests at the bottom of this page.
  • You may list up to two requests at any one time. This was reduced from three on 16 March 2014; it is enforced so that every request has a fair chance of being fulfilled within a reasonable period. Requests posted before this date are not affected.
  • If you plan to nominate the article for Good Article, A-class or Featured Article status, please check the length of our backlog and try to wait until the copy edit is completed before nominating it.
  • Please do not place a {{copyedit}} tag on the article; doing so might result in multiple editors inadvertently working on the same article simultaneously. Remove any existing {{copyedit}} tags from the article.
  • Please do not list articles awaiting review at Wikipedia:Articles for creation; such requests will be declined.
  • Please note that having your article copy edited by our team does not guarantee that the prose will be considered acceptable by GA, A-class or FA reviewers.

Instructions for copy editors[edit]

  • Please ensure you are familiar with the Wikipedia Manual of Style and the expectations for editing for the GOCE outlined in our Step by Step guide. The simplified Manual of Style is here.
  • When you accept a request, please place the {{Working}} template immediately beneath the request so that other copy editors know not to take it on.
  • Please do not accept more than one request at a time.
  • Articles that are potential Featured Article candidates should only be handled by experienced editors.
  • If you have accepted a request but cannot fulfill it for any reason, please amend it with a note of the sections you have completed so that someone else can complete the copy edit.
  • Acceptances that appear to be abandoned will be checked after a reasonable period—usually one week after the timestamp. In cases of complete inactivity we will ask for an update on your talk page. If no response is received within one further week, the {{Working}} template will be removed so that other editors may complete the copy edit.
  • When you have completed a request, please add the template {{Done}} below the request and sign your post with four tildes (~~~~). Alternatively you can add the details of the request to the archive page and then remove the request here by blanking the subsection. Please do not delete the original request without archiving it.
  • Please consider adding the template {{GOCE|user=UserName|date=date completed}} on the talk page of articles you have copy edited.

May 2014[edit]

The Rules of the Game[edit]

I recently expanded this article and would like a good CE. I'll probably do one on my own soon.Deoliveirafan (talk) 14:41, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

X-Men: Days of Future Past[edit]

Request copy edit on 2014 X-Men film X-Men: Days of Future Past. Thanks.--NeoBatfreak (talk) 17:26, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Working - Cheers (no cheese this time!), Baffle gab1978 (talk) 20:23, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

June 2014[edit]

The article is GA currently, and is really close to becoming a FA. Help from a more experienced editor would be welcomed. Thanks in advance. Вик Ретлхед (talk) 00:00, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Note: The article's FAC may end very soon, and it usually takes six weeks to respond to a GOCE requested article. Besides, the article recently already went through a major GOCE edit. How can you expect another one so soon? Kailash29792 (talk) 11:25, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
I had that in mind. I expect the FAC to be archived the upcoming week, and I wanted the article to undergo another copyedit after it. I nominated it earlier because I wanted to save a few weeks of waiting if possible. As I mentioned above, I would prefer if some experienced user takes this one, because there are some minor issues keeping the article away from becoming a FA.--Вик Ретлхед (talk) 12:36, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
If you think the FAC will fail without a copy edit, I suggest that you ask the FAC to be put on hold until the copy edit is complete. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:02, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Demi Lovato[edit]

Since this didn't get much of a peer review, I would like some help polishing as I plan on nominating for FA. It is currently at GA. My original plan was to have it FA in time for it be "Today's featured article" for her 22nd birthday on August 20th, though now seems improbable. Just general sprucing is what I'd like here. XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk) 10:56, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Bounce (Iggy Azalea song)[edit]

I'm currently expanding and working on this article, so I thought I'd nominate it here so long as well because I plan on a GAN when I'm done. Some decent copy editing to touch off my scratchy grammar and prose would be of high value to the article. Thanks!—CoolMarc 20:53, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night[edit]

Failed GAN from 2007. Not a bad article. Needs work. A copy edit would do wonders. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 12:55, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

McStay family murder[edit]

Needs c/e and the article's prose also needs more structure work on each section.--BabbaQ (talk) 22:02, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Vénus de Quinipily[edit]

Current GA. It would be nice to have it copy-edited by one of the native speakers to iron out any issues regarding the prose. - Vivvt (Talk) 01:48, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Pavel Mareš[edit]

Recently expanded, I would appreciate a copy edit before a run at GA. Thanks, C679 06:29, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Article I would like to see improved. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 21:05, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Pavel Srníček[edit]

I wrote this in pieces and would appreciate a tidy up of the grammar. Thanks, C679 18:48, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Tintin in Tibet[edit]

I've listed this article for peer review because this article will soon be submitted to WP:FAC and hopefully someday become a Featured Article (it fairly recently become a Good Article). Thank-you for providing your copy editing skills. What this entire article needs is a tough, thorough review as if it were already going through FAC. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy reading it! Prhartcom (talk) 12:34, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Vanajan Autotehdas[edit]

The article was sent off from FA review due to incomprehensible language. See the review here. It was also in peer review but did not raise any comments from users. Would someone please help to improve it to FA level? Gwafton (talk) 17:08, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

This article has clearly had a lot of work put into it. It is also clear that the primary author of the page does not have English as a first language. It's bold work, and much better than anything I could write in a language other than English. The person who takes on this copy editing task may want to engage in a Talk page conversation with Gwafton as copy editing proceeds. I guarantee that you will find sentences that need further explanation before they can be turned into clear prose that conveys the intended meaning. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:20, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the compliments. And also many thanks to the copyeditors Eric Corbett and Boson. What is your opinion, are the spelling and grammar at a such level that I could take this article to GA review? If you have got any notes about the article content, extent or coverage, feel free to tell it on the talk page. --Gwafton (talk) 19:49, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
I have signed up this article to GA review now. Fingers crossed. --Gwafton (talk) 21:27, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh[edit]

Please help pare down this overly long article. (talk) 19:32, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Hunyadi family[edit]

The article about one of the most successful Hungarian noble families needs a bold copyedit before its GAN. Thank you for your time in advance. Borsoka (talk) 05:03, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Working RGloucester 21:24, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

The article about an obscure people dwelling somewhere in Eurasia or Africa should be thoroughly cleaned and edited before its GAN. Thank you for your work in advance. Borsoka (talk) 05:03, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Forest Sami (was Skogssamer)[edit]

Needs a copyedit. I was contacted about this and asked to take a look at it. I've done a couple of things, but I'm not an experienced copyeditor. I think this may also be a DYK entry. This is Paul (talk) 19:39, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Lex Luthor (Smallville)[edit]

Needs a copyedit.--NeoBatfreak (talk) 04:18, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Copyedit, recently dead politician. —TIAYN (talk) 08:50, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Waverley Line[edit]

Railway line through the Scottish Borders, being revived, scheduled to open in June 2015. This article needs a good bit of copyediting to make it fit for when the line opens. RGloucester 21:21, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Kendall Yount[edit]

This page needs a clean up/copyedit. Would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. UnitedStatesofAmerica2014 (talk) 16:02, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Mango Yellow[edit]

Aiming a GAN; not sure about prose quality, though. Thanks, Gabriel Yuji (talk) 02:00, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Nominated for copyediting because the prose could use some refreshing. The last two sub-headings of the history sections could use some trimming, as I've noted some information repeating there, as well as some trivia.--Retrohead (talk) 08:30, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Dyatlov Pass incident[edit]

Article in need of c/e and polishing of article structure.--BabbaQ (talk) 10:08, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

...And Justice for All (album)[edit]

Plan to nominate this for featured article. The copy-editor might take a closer look at the "Live performances", which seems to be the weakest section.--Retrohead (talk) 13:55, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

John Bauer (illustrator)[edit]

Anyone interested in gnomes and trolls? I have recently expanded this article significantly when one of the pictures in it gained Featured Picture status, and it is in pretty good shape. As soon as it is copy edited it will be submitted to GA reveiw. Thanks! - W.carter (talk) 18:12, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
