(edit conflict) I'm not sure what you refer to. What new GUI? This is Wikipedia. Your user page would be created at User:SR-71 pilot but it doesn't exist currently. The post here is the first edit by your account. If you want strike through text ~~like this~~ then place it in <s>...</s> tags. Citing more than one pages from a merged reference[edit]

Is their a way to cite more than one pages of a web source from a merged reference? I found something similar for a book reference but not the method for websites. September88 (talk) 01:50, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I guess that by 'merged reference' you mean referencing different pages of the same work. You could put links to the website pages (perhaps using more than one {{cite web}} template) between the same <ref name="something">...</ref> tags; but why not simply list each reference separately? See for example: references 9 - 19 on List of tallest buildings in the world which, although needing some cleanup, correctly cites different pages from ctbuh.org in a manner that is clear and easy to understand. HD template description error?[edit]

The Help Desk Template page lists {{HD}} as a template, but the space where the explanation should be says "Not displaying properly? Purge this page." Is something wrong on the page? (Clicking the purge link did not help) RudolfRed (talk) 03:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No. That sentence is merely a preliminary remark above the real explanation of the {{HD}} template, which starts with the "Usage" section and continues with the big table of sub-templates that follows. The "purge" link is needed because that table is transcluded from another page, Template:HD/doc. Using {{Cite video}} for a music track?[edit]

I asked what citation template to use for an album track the other day in the section on this page titled "Citing a track on an album?" I was told to use {{Cite video}}. I looked at the documentation, and it seems to only be written with directions for how to cite video recordings. I can't figure out how to use it for an audio recording. Reading some of the comments on the talk page for the video template, someone points out that {{Citation}} can be used for CDs. Use "CD" in the format field and put track in the chapter field. The context was citing an audiobook, but perhaps that might work for your purpose as well. RudolfRed (talk) 04:27, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to take a look at WP:RS (our page on what constitute Reliable Sources) and make sure the sources you are using are considered reliable. Where did you post the article? There was an article Paramahansa Prajnanananda but it was delete in 2008. The only contribution for your current account is this post so you may have posted it while not logged in. Both http://www.kriya.org and http://www.prajnanamission.org are owned by Kriya Yoga and so they are not independent reliable sources for the Kriya Yoga current spiritual leader. Even if they had be acceptable sources, neither is cited in the draft article, which cites no sources whatsoever. All content in Wikipedia must be verifiable by references to reliable sources, and those that demonstrate the notability of the subject must be independent of the subject. —teb728 t c 01:51, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Google maps as reference[edit]

Can I use google maps as reference? There is this article about a small town which obviously doesn't have enough published references. The town has many neighborhoods with different names which are listed in the article but has no reliable citation. Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup has a link to the Junior Fed Cup page on the ITF website. There is a rules and regulations link from there, and the answer is on page 66 of the regulations. About lens & lenses[edit]

Hello. I'm user of ru-wiki and my English is very bad. But, please, I need a help. There is the featered article Panavision. I translate it for Russian Wikipedia. And I have one problem. I want to understand difference between the words lens and lense in the article. Authors of Panavision have wrote as lens and lense. Where's lens=objective glass, and where's lense=lense??? Thanks. Different tables seperate to columns[edit]

hello,

in User:GreatOrangePumpkin/Sandbox13#Disposition, how to seperate the five tables into three columns? It does not work with the {{col-end}} template; I want to attain a similar design like here, but more spaces between the tables. And like there, it should be put in a {{hidden}} template. Cite Template: Difference between 'Work' &' Publsiher'?[edit]

When citing a web and a newspaper when do we use the 'work' and when 'publisher'?

{cite web.....|work=|publisher=|...}

I confess I'm probably not consistent in my use of the two fields, but I think of "work" as the specific publication, while "publisher" is the name of the organization responsible for the publication. For example, when citing something from The Boston Globe, I would use The Boston Globe as "work" but The New York Times Company as publisher.--SPhilbrick (Talk) 16:19, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to Template:Cite web/doc, work typically gives the name of the website, whereas publisher gives the entity that owns the website. Fixing Interwikis?[edit]

Let's say I have an article for hand in 20 languages and an article for foot in 20 languages. A new article on the hand is added in Bengali (just to pick a language) but when the page is created, the interwiki language link from that article is sent to the english article on the foot. There is a bot that will then link the bengali article to the foot in 19 other articles and add an interwiki link to the Bengali article from all 20 articles on the foot. What is the cleanest way to change this? Do all 21 articles need to be edited or is there a way to do this cleanly?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Naraht (talk • contribs)

User name is misspelled[edit]

Hi, I can figure out how to change my user name....I accidentally created a page for myself and typed a "DOT" between my first and last name as the 'create a page" made it seem that this would be my user name not the name they'd be USING for the public.
