Seattle Wiknic 2012 at Golden Gardens.

Please join us for the second annual Seattle Wiknic on Sunday June 24th, 2012 at Golden Gardens Park in Ballard, 12:00 to 3:00 PM. Details of the past Wicnic are here.

Agenda[edit]

Your non-Wikipedian friends and family are certainly welcome as this will be a busy and beautiful Sunday in the park for everyone. Golden Gardens features a beach, places to grill, hiking in the connected forest, and a mix of sun and shade.

This meetup is a place for Wikipedians to meet each other and talk about shared editing interests. Feel free to not bring your computer as there is enough to talk about without getting online in this outdoor setting.

At The Park[edit]

A few of us have found a table. We're near the traffic circle in the "middle" of the park. Can't really miss us at this point. We have a critical mass of 9 Wiknikians at this point. 166.147.89.145 (talk) 19:34, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Planning to attend[edit]

  • I'm bringing the wife and kids. And something to eat and drink to be determined. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 01:15, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • -- - J-Mo Talk to Me Email Me 21:15, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 05:12, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm in Seattle this summer and look forward to meeting local Wikipedians.GabrielF (talk) 05:14, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is no more golden place I'd rather be, in summary, in summer, in the U.S., than in a greater Seattle. Golden Gardens Park in Ballard, Sunday afternoon is gonna be so silky fine. Who are we if too busy to attend? Some invisible, so uber-prioritized in a beyond, that it's above meet-a-Wikipedian? — CpiralCpiral 20:04, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I hope to be there but can't promise. How will we know who the Wikipedians are? Will someone have a sign with a big "W"? Pine 23:02, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'll be wearing my Wikipedia sweatshirt (if Seattle weather keeps up this stupid June-uary act). If it's actually warm, I'll be wearing a purple UW t-shirt! - J-Mo Talk to Me Email Me 22:05, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the clarification. Are we supposed to bring food or drinks? What should each person bring? Pine 18:42, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • It will be potluck style, so bring what you want to eat & drink, but feel free to bring enough to share! One of us UW folks will try to purloin some plasticware, plates and napkins from the department supply closet. Does anyone know for sure whether this table has a grill? I was thinking of bringing bratwursts and buns ...and beer, of course. I'll also try to get there early and put up a paper sign - J-Mo Talk to Me Email Me 22:05, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Generally each table has a grill, and there are fire pits on the beach. Of course, Golden Gardens can be overcrowded at any time, especially when the weather is good. So we might have to adapt and make do. See also Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/August 2007#What to bring for suggestions. People bring beer to Golden Gardens all the time, though officially it's forbidden. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 23:24, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Planning to attend (I'll be bringing some nifty name tags designed by Dylan) -- dwmc (talk) 23:17, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Count me in. --Yawnbox (talk) 09:21, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Regrets[edit]

  • I am still in New York City. I miss you Seattle! Blue Raspberry (talk) 18:04, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I wish I could attend but its during pride.-Rainbowofpeace (talk) 05:57, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I wish I could but can't miss pride.-Creepyguyinblack (talk) 11:57, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • An invisible uber-priority creeped up; carries me away even now; my fond wishes for splendid memories to attendees of Wikipedia's Seattle Picnic 2012 — CpiralCpiral 19:06, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
