Wot's 'is name?[edit]

Who are these guys?

Does anyone know the name(s) for the characters playing with the balloon here? I know it's a pop culture reference, but I don't know the name or origin. - Jmabel | Talk 17:34, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reminds me of the Goons from Popeye.Popcorn II (talk) 18:50, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The resemblance is clear, but nope. I've seen this several different places, and the ball or balloon is always part of it. - Jmabel | Talk 23:21, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They remind me somewhat of Bert (Sesame Street). cheers, 10draftsdeep (talk) 19:57, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They look like they borrowed their pants from B1 and B2. -- JackofOz (talk) 22:11, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jon and Kate Gosselin's Separation (Divorce) Questions[edit]

Can Kate go back to her maiden name or what? Do you think that they should have dated more before they got in engage or what?

Believe this all of my questions at the moment.

Opinion questions such as this are not within the purview of the Reference Desk. — Lomn 19:49, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Can she go back to her maiden name? Yes, she can. As for the rest of the question, Lomn is correct, it's a matter of opinion, and we on the Reference Desk deal with facts, sir or madam, facts! Tempshill (talk) 20:44, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She can call herself anything she likes. If she takes a shine to calling herself "Millicent Bundlefarber" she can. And good luck to her. It's a tough world for Bundlefarbers, I've heard. --Dweller (talk) 21:21, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[citation needed] - provide reliable sources that the Bundlefarbers of the world have it rough. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 21:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I think I may have meant the Bondleschmarbers. --Dweller (talk) 08:20, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that's much better. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 16:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Today Genre[edit]

moved from Wikipedia talk:Reference desk

Here is a list of today songs I found to be similar and beautiful at the same time:

  • Glenn Morrison - Contact (Original Mix) [1]
  • Glenn Morrison - No Sudden Moves [2]
  • Deadmau5 - Not Exactly (Inpetto Remix) [3]
  • Hybrid - Finished Symphony (Deadmau5 Remix) [4]
  • Fragma - Tocas Miracle 2008 (Inpetto 2008 Mix) [5]
  • Whigfield feat. KLM Music - Saturday Night (Secret Sunday Remix)

My wonder is: it's a today genre/subgenre, but what subgenre is? I don't think that calling it a Minimalist EDM would be enough due to the fact that all songs has the same particular sound timbres. A much more to-all-people-friendly song, in a sweeter style, a disco style composition, the first I've heard and reminiscent to all pieces from this list is Supermode - Tell Me Why (Raul Rincon Remix) (even Supermode - Tell Me Why). The genre/subgenre must be formed from 2007 to 2009. Hope someone knows or finds the answer. Thank you. --TudorTulok (talk) 19:01, 23 June 2009 (UTC)--[reply]

It's called Progressive Trance. Check out Ishkur's guide to electronic music (http://www.ishkur.com/music/edmguide.html). The particular sound is sometimes called the "deadmau5 sound" in trance communities because his sudden rise in popularity caused so many people to mimic it, however I believe Adam K first created it. Here are some more examples of the sound:
Adam K & Soha - Long Distance [6]
Myon & Shane 54 - Not A Lot Left [7]
Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin [8]
Reflekt - Need To Feel Loved (Adam K & Soha Remix) [9]
Cosmic Gate feat. Roxanne Emery - A Day That Fades (Inpetto Remix) [10]
Kuffdam - Burning Up (Mango Remix) [11])
Gabriel Lukosz feat. Rachele Warner - Last One Out (Myon & Shane 54 Remix) [12] --Mark PEA (talk) 11:49, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done, thanks to Mark PEA I have been clarified.  – TudorTulok (talk) 13:30, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
