Hotels in Scotland[edit]

"Really nice" and "where rock bands can stay on a tour" seem diametrically opposed, to me. That is, a nice hotel won't want a band practicing, throwing wild parties, etc., and disturbing the other guests. Of course, if this band can pay them millions to stay there, then the hotel might very well turn a blind eye to their behavior. StuRat (talk) 23:30, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Know the very place! Garvault Hotel.Very remote. No neighbours to annoy. And for a rock group they will enjoy pursuing the traditional Highland pastimes of bird watching. The landlord may even allow them to go Haggis hunting. Now isn’t a stuffed head of a Haggis a true and worthy trophy to hang on the wall, amongst their Music_recording_sales_certification#Certification_thresholds Diamond disks (can I take it they are famous and money is no issue). Mind you, a namby-pamby rock group probably wouldn’t go dare hunt haggis without them being in the protection of a Abrams amoured tank and I don't think they have any of those up there. If the only source is Wikipedia then its List of hotels in the United Kingdom#Scotland and a person will have to figure out for themselves what rating the hotels have. Rather then stay in a single hotel for the duration of their Scottish tour, I would think most rock bands stay in the hotel for only one night while they play in the local pub/theatre/stadium. The next day they will move on to the next town in the tour, set up there, do the show, then sleep in a new hotel. Of course, they may stay a few extra nights in a particular hotel if they do a set of shows in the same town. For reasonably accurate suggestions, perhaps you can indicate which cities the band will be visiting and how many nights in each. Astronaut (talk) 15:16, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gleneagles Hotel is really nice. If the band are similar to, say, U2, then they might stay in Gleneagles for a few days after the tour finishes, perhaps on recommendation from their friends and acquaintances who run events like the 31st G8 summit there. (Bono participated in the Make Poverty History campaign which was aimed at that summit.) However, like all really nice country hotels, Gleneagles is somewhat close to the middle of nowhere, so if the band were playing venues in the main cities Edinburgh and Glasgow, they wouldn't stay at Gleneagles while doing so. (It's about an hour by road or a bit more. If they've brought a helicopter then it gets complicated). In central Glasgow, One Devonshire Gardens is extremely popular with pop stars (says our article) for exactly that reason. Losing track here. Why is the OP asking this? Astronaut states that the OP can only access Wikipedia – so s/he is surely not a Tour manager. So why does s/he need a list. Yep, it is for my novel. The band will be playing Hampden Park one night and next day they will be flying to Italy. For them, money is not a problem and they are civil rockstars, kinda like U2, yeah :P, so noise is a no-no. They just have to spend the night, and maybe go to a night club for an after party. So, if you can provide a hotel, can you also provide the name for a night club or pub near where they can go and have some fun after a hard day/night of work? They stay at One Devonshire Gardens. After the show they go to a late night gig at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and sit in the booth (because they know the guy who runs it). It's not a hut, incidentally, more of a wah-wah cellar. -- Finlay McWalterჷTalk 00:50, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hampden Park is currently closed until after the 2014 Commonwealth Games Right now they are getting it ready but other than the games it won't be used for anything else, see here.
