reasoning -75.66.159.39 (talk) 13:43, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Not done Sorry but this was discussed at AFD and there is a clear consensus that we shouldn't have an article on this subject. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 13:48, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Actually, the clear consensus on the AfD was that the existing article was a copyright violation. If the content thereof was accurate, I believe a very good case can be made per WP:MUSICIAN that we should have an article about him (one, obviously, that reflects verifiability and respects copyrights). --Orange Mike | Talk 19:40, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
After re-reading the AFD, you're probably right. However, we should definitely keep an eye on any such article for BLP issues seeing that the subject would rather we not have an article. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 00:36, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Pullman (Chile)

Information not covered elsewhere. The main Pullman (car and coach) page has a link to European Pullman coaches: why should there not be a link to a Chile Pullman service that I researched with illustrations? -Duncanogi (talk) 17:42, 10 February 2011 (UTC) Duncanogi (talk) 17:42, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

  • The only content on there aside from the scan of a ticket was "Pullman trains also operated in Chile." the article was deleted as a duplicate of an existing article. I'm not sure that I agree with that decision, but I cant unilaterally reverse it. You could leave a note on the deleting admin's talk page asking to have the article restored. Protonk (talk) 17:50, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
  • The contributing editor created the article so that he could upload his own photo. His contributions consist in no small part of scanning family photos and uploading them to pages that have the tiniest possible link to the subject (usually at screen-breaking sizes). I disagree that "research with illustrations" is the correct term to use. Simon-in-sagamihara (talk) 00:20, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Done it was Marine software engineering- I am going to move to Marine Software Engineering and will tack on a notice at the PROD nom's page (it was the same person that nominated the one you restored. l'aquatique[talk] 05:37, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Ramesh Srinivasan

The article was originally deleted by editor Atama for the following reasons "‎(WP:PROD: Nominated for seven days with no objection: Concern was: Non-notable per WP:ACADEMIC, unreferenced." I wish to submit a referenced article about this person that demonstrates the notability of this living American academic. A draft of this article is in my userspace User:Kairyth/RameshArticleTest -Kairyth (talk) 19:03, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Also note that I contacted editor Atama about this matter on 9 Feb 2011 with no response. Kairyth (talk) 19:05, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Done – as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored upon request.. This is an unusual situation: both Atama, the admin who protected the title because the article had been repeatedly re-created, and the user who proposed for it deletion, have retired or are no longer actively editing. I have therefore restored the PRODded article, and you are welcome to update it in line with your draft. I have to say that neither version seems to me to show notability to the standard of WP:PROF - notability requires showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject", and lengthy lists of writings by Dr Srinivasan are not a substitute, in notability terms, for substantial independent comment about him. Unless something more appears it is likely that this may be nominated at WP:Articles for deletion. JohnCD (talk) 20:45, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Also even though the more recent revisions don't have copyvio problems the first few revisions were copied from a CV online. So be careful reaching into past revisions to improve the article. Protonk (talk) 21:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Good point; I have deleted and restored without the copyvio versions in the history. JohnCD (talk) 16:07, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

This article hasn't been deleted, so there's not much we can do for you. I have to say, as an admin that does speedy deletions, if it was my call I might easily delete it as spam. Since I've replied here, though, I will leave that to someone else. I would suggest you read how not to be a spammer and then go through your page and remove anything that sounds even remotely like an advertisement if you want the article to survive. l'aquatique[talk] 06:36, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

It was not my intention. Im sorry. can u be a little more specific on the links that seem adverts. It was seriously not my intention to spam.

It's not links, it's kind of the whole article, it was written like an advertisement. Though, in the end it appears that it was deleted as non-notable- you may want to read our notability guideline and then talk to Nyttend, the admin that deleted it. Mersher Miller

Two days ago, the article on Mersher Miller was deleted via WP:PROD. I disagree with the decision for several reasons.

  1. It was proposed for deletion under the rational "Does not meet notability requirements" but doesn't mention "how" it fails. The article (#1) clearly establishes him as a notable underworld figure in New York's Lower East Side during the turn of the century and (#2) his saloon was the site of a notable robbery by Johnny Spanish.
  2. There were two reliable sources the article used, "The Apaches of New York" by Alfred Henry Lewis and "The Gangs of New York" by Herbert Asbury. The former book devoted an entire chapter to Miller.
  3. The administrator who deleted the article commented "90% of the article is about Mersher's brother, not him". This is, perhaps, a bit misleading since the article itself was a stub and primarily detailed the very notable robbery that occurred at his saloon (this was the crime that eventually forced Spanish to flee New York).

Here is a cached version of the original article. It could definitely use some expansion but the notability is obviously made clear in the introduction and includes reliable sources to support it (which is why it was created via WP:AFC in the first place). 71.184.55.112 (talk) 20:39, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Template:FSCnom/init and Template:FSCnom/intro

The preload templates for Featured sound candidates nominations, which set up the page and explain how to fill it out. It having been deleted makes creating a featured sound nomination much more difficult.

Deletion reasoning given is patently false, since no other copy of them exist (or, if they do exist, aren't used), and this is the one used by a featured content process. T3 thus doesn't apply.

I presume the deletion was in error, probably confusing them with Template:FPCnom/init. However, Wikipedia handles sounds very differently to pictures. For formatting, they need to use a very specific template with unusual syntax, which, if doene correctly, means they can be coppied directly to WP:FS without need for any tweaking.. An FPC nom will NOT use that template or syntax, and is thus unsuitable.

Further, preload and editing intro header templates cannot accept parameters, so even if the changes were minor (and they aren't at all minor; these are very different content types), it would still be necessary to have separate templates. Playa Fly

Page was deleted because "notabilitity of artist" was not addressed. Playa Fly, born Ibn Young, is one of the most prolific and well respected lyricist of Memphis hip hop in Memphis, TN. A former and original member of Three 6 Mafia, Playa Fly left the group early on to follow a solo career after ownership and recognition disputes. Although lacking mainstream national recognition, Playa Fly is regarded in Memphis as the true voice and spirit of Memphis rap, and is a legendary artist, historian, and teacher. CHARTER OF MEDICINA ALTERNATIVA (Alma Ata Declaration 1962) Reply to:28, International Buddhist centre Road, Ref. No. MA/12/89. Colombo 6, Sri Lanka Date : 14th December, 1989.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is to certify that Prof. Dr. R.R. Sharma, Head, Department of Biophysics, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India was awarded the Albert Schweitzer Prize during the 17th World Congress and European Community Symposium of Complementary Medicines held at Amsterdam from 27th to 29th October, 1989. He presided over a scientific session and also presented a paper entitled: "Molecular Biophysics of the Micro Dose". Albert Schweitzer Prize was instituted in 1988 by the Open International University for Complementary Medicines during the World Congress held at Costa-Del-Sol in Spain with unanimous mandate of 330 recognized medical associations from 76 countries as the highest award in Complementary Medicines with a wider scope of recognition of Medicines than the Nobel Prize. It comprises a gold medallion plus an accolade and promotes understanding between people in health and disease. Two prizes, one for research and the other for clinical practices, are awarded yearly. Dr. Sharma was awarded the Albert Schweitzer Prize for elucidating the science of Homoeopathy through his two and a half decades' researches and the book MOLECULAR HOMOEOPATHY. He, for the first time ever in the world, showed by experiments and theory that the dynamization processes of raising potencies induce the diluent medium (lactose, water, alcohol) to acquire the chemical specificity of the initial drug to act as the therapeutic agent and that the homoeopathic dose is not "micro" but contains plenty of the medicinally active diluent molecules. This avoids the perpetual conceptual impasses due to Avogadro's law that potencies higher than the 12th centesimal cannot have any molecule of the initial drug. He has explained all the homoeopathic laws, principles and tenets scientifically. For this he has proposed three new sciences of INDUCTIVE CHEMISTRY, XENOBIOLOGY, INDUCTOXENOPATHY. He has shown that so far Homoeopathy has been regarded as unscientific placebo therapy due to inadequacies of the sciences themselves. He has removed these inadequacies and made the sciences richer with new, bold concepts. He deserves all help and encouragements to take these researches further for the good of the ailing humanity. Signed (Prof. Dr. Sir Anton Jayasuriya) Dean, Clinical Studies The Open International University For Complementary Medicines

Nomination for Nobel Prize in Medicine-1996 Ref. No. MA/02/96 Date 18. 02. 1996 Dear Colleague, Thank you for your excellent thesis on Molecular Homoeopathy. I have sent it to the Nobel Committee. It is with great pleasure I wish to inform you that the Senate of The Open International University for Complementary Medicines affiliated to Medicina Alternativa has decided to confer on you complimentary the accolade of Merit of Excellence for your work at a special ceremony organized at the World Congress of Locomotor Medicines to be held from 27th to 29th December 1996 at The Bandaranaike Memorial Conference Hall, Colombo, Sri Lanka. VAD 43 MRC Klang Chapter

First and foremost, I would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused. I would like to humbly request for the undeletion of the VAD 43 MRC Klang Chapter as it is a reputable social service action team serving actively in its area of supervision. Thus it would be easy for members of the society to get to know social service teams like these. Furthermore, this team is under the supervision of the Malaysian Red Crescent which is a member under the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Members of this group are also above 18 years old in age which shows that they are no influence of schools. I hope my request would be taken into consideration to undelete the above mentioned page. Thank you -Manoj22majin 18:31, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

No need to apologize but no need to undelete anything either as you have already reposted it yourself and already have a backup copy in your user space. With respect to content, we do have an article on the Malaysian Red Crescent Society but would in general not have articles on the individual chapters of such societies. In that sense Wikipedia isn't the best place to inform about your noble cause. Best. --Tikiwont (talk) 19:56, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

The Magazine was started in the Early nineties and was about BBS'ing in Australia. It was the only magazine to devote itself uniquely to BBS, FIDO-Net and eventually the Internet in Australia. According to Gordon and Gotch, the publications distributors, up to issue 8, it was a complete sell-out. The original was deleted by a USA based college student who having grown up with the Internet obviously had no understanding of how rare and unusual early BBS users were.-Tomkoltai (talk) 06:14, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

  • It is just some HTML in a text editor. I assume it was non free because the text editor was proprietary. If that was the case it doesn't belong in userspace. Either way I can't really see the utility of the image. Protonk (talk) 03:33, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
  • Is it possible to send the image to me via email, so I can decide if I really want to keep it? Ajl772 03:53, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
And I'm not sure what you mean by "it doesn't belong in userspace". What doesn't belong? Ajl772 03:54, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
When you take a screenshot of a non free program that screenshot may include copyrighted images (logos, images, etc.) so in an abundance of caution for downstream use our non-free content policy basically forces us to declare most screenshots of non free software as "non free". It is the non-free image itself that doesn't belong in userspace. I'm not sure as to where our guidelines on screenshots are, probably someplace like WP:SCREENSHOT or something. it would be pretty trivial to edit the picture tom just include the instructive part ofmthe image or use some Free (that's with a capital F) text editor. As for the image itself, it isn't hurting anything. I'll just restore it and you can look at it on wikipedia. When you ae done you can ask to have it deleted again, modify it, or simply leave it alone and it will be deleted automatically after a period of time. Protonk (talk) 05:28, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, I have edited it and re-uploaded it. Would you mind taking a look at it to see what changes (if any) I would need to make to the copyright information, or direct me to someone who can help with that? Ajl772 17:01, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Strikeland Brotherhood Sisterhood

I am one of the founders of strikeland brotherhood sisterhood, i want to add this article in your wikipedia. -Strikelandbsi (talk) 12:00, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles concerning organisations. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning organisations will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject.--Tikiwont (talk) 13:57, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
I also recommend you read the guidelines regarding conflicts of interests before writing an article about an organisation you are significantly involved with. Thryduulf (talk) 17:31, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
As a bit of a clarification, it wasn't deleted for not meeting the requirements of WP:ORG, it was deleted for "not asserting notability". If you can fix the article and explain why the organization is notable, please do so. But be aware that if it doesn't meet the requirements of WP:ORG it will just get deleted again. You can contact me on my talk page if you have questions. But please do read WP:COI and WP:ORG as well as WP:RS first. Even if they don't make sense the first time through, reading them will help...Hobit (talk) 02:46, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
As a bit of further clarification, I referred to not meeting WP:ORG as a reason for not restoring the page whilst pointing out to Strikelandbsi on their user talk page that they have a copy in that pages history as well as COI and possible issues with a role account. After a request here has been handled, the requesters' talk page is often the better place to offer help and the like.--Tikiwont (talk) 13:01, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

The said page has been deleted on February 7 under the G12 criterion. However, there is the OTRS ticket #2011020310008453 which has been received on February 3 and which comes from the domain mentioned in the deletion. Not being an admin I can't see if the page doesn't meet the other deletion criteria but I feel it should be undeleted with the OTRS template placed on its talk page. Thanks, -odder (talk) 02:59, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

  • Comment, the article was first deleted as G12 copyright violation on 2nd February, and then an identical copy deleted on 7 February, again as G12. I've had a look at the content, and while it needs work to make it encyclopaedic in style this would be possible and it doesn't appear to meet any other speedy deletion criteria. I'm not OTRS enabled so I cannot view the ticket nor therefore comment on the applicability of the G12 in light of it. I'm not 100% sure from your comment whether you are saying that the OTRS ticket gives the appropriate release(s) or not, so I am erring on the side of caution and not undeleting it at this moment. I have no objections to it being undeleted if the ticket does make G12 a non-issue, and will do so if you clarify to this effect (and nobody gets there before me!). -GraemeRead (talk) 15:32, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
The page's deletion was not on the basis that it was repeatedly recreated. Your last version, like the one before it, was deleted under CSD G11 as found by the deleting administrator to be unambiguous advertising or promotion. The title was protected from recreation after that deletion, because it had been repeatedly recreated. Whether or not I agree with deletion on the basis stated, or the length of protection, the page will not be undeleted through this page as this page is only for undeletion of content on very specific uncontroversial undeletion bases, such as pages deleted under CSD G6 as "housekeeping", and expired prods. Please see the top of this page where this is discussed. I suggest you contact the administrator who both deleted and protected the title against recreation at his talk page: User talk:Lectonar. If that is unavailing you do have the option of seeking unprotection at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection to then seek to repost, though I suggest you work up a better, less promotional and better developed version of the article in a subpage before you do so. You can also seek the have the deletion itself overturned at Wikipedia:Deletion review, though this will only occur if it is found that the article pretty clearly did not meet the criteria it was deleted under.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:52, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
