Suspected sockpuppets [edit]
- Panyd (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · SUL · CA · checkuser (log))
Evidence submitted by Keepscases [edit]
During Panyd's recent RfA, I believe there was substantial evidence that suggests Panyd is a sockpuppet of nominator (and administrator) Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, including:
- The Panyd account submitting a comment obviously from Chase Me, with a later explanation that they were together and he had accidentally used "her" laptop
- Inconsistencies in explanations of where they were, and when they were and were not together
- Similarities in writing styles, most notably use of dashes
- Absence of Chase Me from Wikipedia as Panyd was building resume for RfA
- Absence of both accounts from Wikipedia since RfA failure
Chase Me claims to be in the British Royal Navy; Panyd claims to be a college student in America. A checkuser should quickly make it very, very clear whether or not they are one and the same person.

Comments by accused parties [edit]
See Defending yourself against claims. I'm not sure whether this qualifies as good cause under CheckUser but as I and ChaseMe both said during my RfA we'd be more than willing to undergo it. If someone could either leave a comment here or on my talk page to let me know how to proceed with that it would be most appreciated.
What happened at the RfA was incredibly stupid, I really don't have a defense for that. ChaseMe shouldn't have been using my laptop and I shouldn't have left my account logged in while he was using it.
I know Chaseme is away with the navy right now and won't be back for a while. So although I don't think his 'absence' while I've been editing is something that needs defending I will say for him that he's been away a lot. Looking at his logs it appears he has edited while I've been editing so the different IP addresses should come up with a CheckUser.
As for my absence since my RfA, I've just gotten back to school, which anyone can tell you is a busy time. Also, anyone who reads my RfA will see a sizable amount of people stating I'm not a trustworthy editor because of my disability. I was very grateful to those who opposed with suggestions and valid criticism but the sheer force of the objections due to my disability was disheartening at best. Especially when I feel that I have been a steady and well-reasoned contributor to this project. I'm trying to find some way to deal with that prejudice and still feel as though I'm a part of the Wikipedia community.
If anyone has any questions for me or wants me to do anything which doesn't involve telling my life story please let me know and I'll happily oblige. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 18:21, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm quite happy to go through with a checkuser; I've done nothing wrong. As to the claims:
- The Panyd account submitting a comment obviously from Chase Me, with a later explanation that they were together and he had accidentally used "her" laptop - Entirely true.
-
- Inconsistencies in explanations of where they were, and when they were and were not together - I'd like clarification of these inconsistencies, I don't remember there being any, and if there are I can easily clean them up.
-
- Similarities in writing styles, most notably use of dashes - we spend a lot of time together and have similar writing styles. I often proof-read Panyd's university work.
-
- Absence of Chase Me from Wikipedia as Panyd was building resume for RfA - I was having a rather long break from Wikipedia, which I still intend to have. To be quite honest, fitting in OTRS, Wikipedia, my personal relationships, my new job and the Royal Navy is all a bit too much. I'd been absent for a much longer time than Panyd sorting out her RfA; in fact, I've only really worked on OTRS and CSDs since Panyd started using Wikipedia.
- Absence of both accounts from Wikipedia since RfA failure - Being a long-serving administrator and editor, as well as OTRS volunteer, in good standing with the community, I'm quite shocked at the sockpuppetry claims. In any case, I've been absent for a very long time regardless of the RfA. I believe Panyd's absence is down to her being told that she's too disabled to be an administrator, which tends to have a chilling effect.
