Yes, there are a few accounts here, but I don't see any abuse of them. Shawn -you need to pick an account and stick to it. Any old accounts should be redirected to your main account. If your brother is also editing Wikipedia, you should both note that in order to avoid any confusion. TNXMan 14:56, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
This is also Shawn Worthington Laser Plasma, I only have 2 accounts the third was my brothers, and this one is a extra watch list to put in order certain articles like List list of laser articles that are all identical, cant do it on my main account cause it has 23,000 articles on my raw watch list. I dont edit on this account maybe a couple of times that was a mistake, how do I redirect this account to main.Plasma laser (talk) 08:42, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

I ran across this editor while they were making numerous small edits to various Disney theme park articles, such as two dozen in a row at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, as indicated in this string. Editor never leaves an edit summary explaining their contents, and while some are good-faith, most are extraneous and some are unsourced. Editor's most recent edit here at Disneyland is downright false.
Soon after this account appeared in November 2011, it was tagged as a possible sock by User:HkCaGu here. Almost immediately, the editor begins composing a Wikipedia-like article on a fictional airport here. HkCaGu reverts, but user recreates here. Pattern repeats itself three more times. This is almost identical to edits seen at User:Alec Skywalker, a previously-banned sock of User:Jonathan Yip, as indicated here. This proclivity for fictional airports, combined with name similarity, gets me hearing quacking. -- McDoobAU93 04:20, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Update: Editor returned to editing, making similar false edits to Disneyland here. While editing, it appears they logged out yet continued editing, as evidenced by the IP added above. IP was previously blocked for 3 months by User:Rschen7754 as a probable sock of Jonathan Yip; that block has expired within the last week. --McDoobAU93 05:18, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

I'd recommend blocking per WP:DUCK; no need for CheckUser unless you're looking for an underlying IP or something like that. --Rschen7754 04:28, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Just to pile onto the WP:DUCK determination, Alec Skywalker (talk · contribs) and Diarmuid Skywalker (talk · contribs) may be derived from Alec Guinness and Ian McDiarmid, both actors from the Star Wars films. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:39, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Account started on New Year's Eve 2011, but with only three edits within 24 hours, all nonsense on their talk page about fictional airports, as seen on other socks' talk pages. Account resumed editing today, apparently after discovering most recent sock, User:Diarmuid Skywalker has been indef'ed for sockpuppetry. Editing targets remain the same as with recent socks, Disney theme park articles. Edits so far appearing to be good faith, as shown here, but this editor is still evading their block. Last name of Skywalker, fictional airports, Disney articles ... quack, quack. McDoobAU93 23:55, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
I stand corrected ... here he goes again with a total falsehood edit on Disneyland. I've issued a final warning for vandalism. --McDoobAU93 00:02, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Another very obvious sockpuppet account of User:Bertrand101. Username is very similar to the recently blocked socks, namely User:Leo Gonzales 6, User:Leo Gonzales 7 and User:Leo Gonzales 8. The previous 2 SPI cases has not yet been archived but this person created another sock with the same name convention. Sockpuppet also created this article, an obvious trait of Bertrand101. - WayKurat (talk) 05:41, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Blindingly obvious, the person is not even attempting to conceal it. The same crazed obsession with ascribing Jewish ancestry (with no / little evidence) or highlighting Jewish ancestry out of all proportion. See his contributions: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Special:Contributions/Vincentnufcr1 . Some of the other sock puppets contained the string "Vince". Moreover, a "Geordie" is a person who lives in Tyneside (north east England). The largest city in Tyneside is Newcastle. The acronym for the Premier League soccer team is NUFC (Newcastle United Football Club). Open and shut. 89.204.130.132 (talk) 23:34, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

This editor is also edit-warring, with the same editing pattern as confirmed socks, at Anschluss, Adolf Hitler, Austrians, Ethnic Germans and elsewhere. A clear sock. It may also be worth looking at Wonderman91 (talk+ • tag • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • SUL • checkuser), who shows much of the same behaviour. See sulutil:Sensei Ali Tabatabaei and sulutil:Shorenji Ryu Karate. Mostly active on commons: and en: with minor activity on ja:. Both users uploads lots of copyvio files on karate (see deletion requests listed on their talk pages on en: and commons:). They place out of scope text at places where text needs to be placed and at least text inserted by Shorenji Ryu Karate has been proven to be copyvio. For example, I have just requested speedy deletion of ja:利用者:Shorenji Ryu Karate because of copyvio. They seem to have similar behaviour, so I suspect that they are the same user. Currently blocked on several projects:
- Sensei Ali Tabatabaei: commons: (indefinite), mw: (2 weeks), ja: (indefinite)
- Shorenji Ryu Karate: en: (indefinite) Stefan2 (talk) 23:45, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I just found a third one (currently only on Commons) with similar image uploads. Commons:User:Karate Iran History contains mostly the same text as User:Sensei Ali Tabatabaei. Will cross-post on Commons about this. --Stefan2 (talk) 00:02, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Considering the contributions, the account seems to have been created exclusively to serve the purpose of what socks usually do, lend an extra vote in a discussion. There has been a long discussion here which was related to a topic certain users had been fighting for months together with a certain intention Wikipedia is not meant for. The discussion ended two days back, and the account has been abandoned. If they are confirmed as socks, then I shall have to strike out the vote given by the sock in the RFC. Hence, the SPI. - Compare 2012 IP, asking for a move request: [1] with 2007, CU confirmed sock using that rationale to complain about the move [2].
- Compare 2012 IP [3] with 2010 blocked IP [4], with 2007 Instantnood [5]
There are about a dozen other templates/categories where this IP has made identical edits to previously identified socks. The IP should be blocked ASAP (they've made hundreds of bot like edits in 24 hours, another very Instantnood behavior, and very difficult to clean up) and then checked for user name creation. SchmuckyTheCat (talk) 05:47, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- to address Deryck - this is the most 'nood like sock to appear in a while.
-
- The diff above shows quibbling about the term "Macanese" and the claim it only applies to a certain subset of things related to Macau, which isn't true in common English.
- The second diff shows the IP moving/adding HK to "Asia" categories instead of (or in addition to) China.
- bot like category editing in general.
- Not shown in the diffs, but what the IP is also doing - is adding CFR tags to categories when as an IP they can't create CFR entries, again to enforce the POV about the term "Macanese", then edit warring to keep non-functional tags.
- What actually makes it ID to me as an Instandnood sock is the way they write, but that isn't showable in a diff.
- Some of this belligerent behavior seems common to HK IP users (and WHY, we don't know). But the overlap on areas where confirmed socks have edited, plus the conversation style, and belligerent edit warring, is too much to ignore here. Edit warring and bogus tagging should earn any IP a block, not a defense, from Deryck. SchmuckyTheCat (talk)
Comments by other users
Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims. The links which SchmuckyTheCat put forward are effectively taking things out of context. I edited a number of geography categories, stub categories, and other categories unrelated to HK too, but he didn't mention them at all. Regarding the Macanese categories, I only noticed those inconsistencies very recently when I noticed the Hong Kong people of Macanese descent category. I didn't actually read into the edit history of the article and those categories. 218.250.159.25 (talk) 11:02, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I don't know the history here with Instantnood; but the IP account Special:Contributions/202.189.108.245 (which has only 7 edits, all within the same hour), raised my suspicions with these comments, whose first edit to the talk page "agreed" with 218.250.159.25. Both IP addresses are registered in Hong Kong. One could also notice the single-purpose accounts weighing in at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Taiwan_island_group; in particular the last 5 to comment (in an apparent attempt to save the article), consisted of the IP addresses above, together with 202.64.29.231, 1.65.157.174 and 59.188.42.63 (all of which are from Hong Kong). It seems likely some or all of these IP's are the same person, posing as different people. Of those, the IP address 218.* is by far the most active. Mlm42 (talk) 22:44, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments
- I don't see any similarity there other than a large dose of WP:IDONTLIKEIT from SchmuckyTheCat. The IP editor's contribution history involves multiple topic areas, mostly if not all benign cleanup edits. The two move rationales cited above have nothing in common except that they're different people attempting to address the same issue, 5 years apart. If any evidence should be drawn from the category page edit war, this IP actually addresses the issue properly in the edit summary,[6] unlike the abuse of edit summaries which Instantnood was well-known for. With over 500 edits and only 2 cherry-picked diffs presented by SchmuckyTheCat, unfortunately all I can see in this allegation of sockpuppetry is another incidence of SchmuckyTheCat using Instantnood as an excuse to harass an anonymous editor from Hong Kong who disagrees with his view. Deryck C. 17:39, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- Deryck, just because this editor has changed one part of his behaviour doesn't mean this person isn't Instantnood, none of the recent IP editors blocked as Instantnood did the edit summary thing.
- Making 500 edits over a few days is only generally done by our highest profile members - who almost invariably have accounts. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 18:27, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- I don't want to go through the arguments about POV again - we've been through that many, many times before that the current editorial stance is biased against the common stance of Hong Kong people on certain Hong Kong-related issues (and Macau too, for that matter). Edit warring and bogus tagging should earn any IP relevant sanctions appropriate to their behaviour, not a sweeping allegation of sockpuppetry, from SchmuckyTheCat. Deryck C. 22:52, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
- I'd have a lot more sympathy with your position if the problem wasn't literally continuous. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 09:45, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
