Two new unproposed stub types, each for a region which crosses currently accepted international borders and as such runs contrary to stubbing practice. The only uses that these new types have been put to is to add an extra template to articles already marked by the longstanding {{SouthOssetia-stub}}. While an existing geo-stub for South Ossetia might be useful, and equivalent stubs for North Ossetia probably wouldn't be dismissed out of hand if proposed properly, a general stub covering regions on both sides of a disputed international border can only be asking for the sort of trouble we don't need with stubs. Delete and, if necessary, propose replacements in the proper way. Grutness...wha? 01:19, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Delete and rename. I created these stubs for ossetia related articles. As for this case we can create geo stubs for both north and south. But what creating 'so culure stub' and 'no culture stub' look like? Ossetia is not a country but it is a region of the world whith specific culture, population, history etc. It is the encyclopedia topic. I have voted for deletion because as i learnt with help of Grutness that i had to propose them before creating.

- Best thing to do with items that relate to the entirety of Ossetia culturally would be to double-tag them with both a NorthOssetia-stub and a SouthOssetia-stub. That way they can still be grouped together, can still be found by anyone looking for stubs to expand on either region and are both ultimately listed in subcategories of categories for both Russia and Georgia. Similar sorts of things are done for other cultures which span national borders (e.g., Inuit culture with Nunavut-stub and Greenland-stub). If there's a specific Ossetia WikiProject (which I think there is), it can also use a talk-page assessment template to further link all articles relating to Ossetia, not just stubs. - Delete per all of the above. Ossetia is a region, culturally speaking (i.e. not a geopolitical entity), that crosses a disputed international border; I agree with Grutness's assessment that double-tagging with North- and South-Ossetia-stub templates would be preferable for articles covering both subjects. There is, in fact, an active Ossetia WikiProject that can tag articles (not just stubs) with the assessment template where appropriate.
