[edit] About WikiProject Agriculture
Welcome to WikiProject Agriculture. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of agriculture and the organization of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.
This Project aims primarily to provide a consistent article structure for agricultural related topics while striving to develop and improve said agriculture articles. The goal is to make Wikipedia a comprehensive source of factually accurate, neutral articles that include relevant, credible facts.
This WikiProject strives to develop and improve articles at Wikipedia related to crop production, livestock management, aquaculture, dairy farming and forest management. The project also covers related areas, including both governmental and NGO regulatory agencies, agribusiness, support agencies such as 4H, agricultural products including fertilizers and herbicides, pest management, veterinary medicine and farming equipment and facilities.

Here are some tasks you can do:
- Article requests: Ensure that every world country has an article on Agriculture in.... Notably Agriculture in Paraguay etc is still missing. Start case studies on specific crop industries by country etc Rice production in Burma etc. The Library of Congress has a lot of public domain text in this area.; create articles for technical terms used in soil sciences. What on Earth is a "fine, mixed, superactive, hyperthermic Pachic Paleustoll" when it's at home?
- Cleanup: Goose, Peas, Legumes, Barley, Cattle#Oxen, Ecological importance of bees
- Copyedit: Agriculture
- Disambiguation:
Boar
- Expand: Agriculture in Burma, Dairy goat, Domestic pig, Gloucestershire Old Spots, Silvopasture, Barley, Loment, Ox, Pig slaughter
- Infobox: Bean
- NPOV: Template:Agriculture, Chicken, Domestic pig, Cattle, Agriculture, Poultry farming, Metolachlor, Roundup, Winter sowing, Factory farming
- Stubs:
Fowl, Poultry, Pulpwood, Ox, Kinder (goat)
- Update: Portal:Agropedia
- Verify: Agricultural productivity, Domestic Pig, Oats, Barley (especially discussion of 4 row), Agronomy, Garden strawberry

[edit] Article information
[edit] Guidelines
For an article regarding a species, include a {{taxobox}} but for the individual breeds/cultivars include a breed box or cultivar box if one is available. Cultivar boxes are found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life/Cultivar infobox
[edit] Article Alerts
- Good article nominees
[edit] Articles needing attention
- Chicken Harvester is a machine, don't take it from me, research it yourself. It's a bizzare machine that catches chickens and cages them. I wanted to learn more, but there is no article.
- Agriculture in present-day nations and states – please contribute by creating missing Agriculture in country articles
- Agriculture - copyedit and NPOV
- Cattle - NPOV
and breakout Ox
- Chicken - NPOV (Corporate farming/ethical issues)
- Domestic_pig -NPOV (ethics) and deal with breed lists
- Dairy_goat - NPOV(currently too US-centric)
- Triticale - validate and wikify, copyedit, check for NPOV, add a cultivar infobox - someone seems to have done a sloppy job of using Harvard referencing, not all of the inline citations have corresponding full citations at the end and none are linked.
- Barley - validate, reformat, expand Production section, add Agronomy section
- Legumes, Fabaceae, Bean, Pulse (legume), Loment (stub), and probably all the other legumes. Most of these were tagged for merger into Legumes recently and may be again if we don't fix them.
- Agronomy, Horticulture, Portal:Agriculture and Agronomy - with respect to the scope of "Agronomy".
- Roundup, Metolachlor - NPOV
- Barley#Cultivars - Validate recent taxonomical changes - see our talk page for a starting place
- Agroforestry - picture placement runs over text
- Poultry farming - NPOV
- Factory farming - NPOV
- Domesticated turkey - See Talk:Domesticated turkey re wrong taxobox - also the name should be Domestic not Domesticated
Fixed
– Article is now titled Domestic turkey.

[edit] Stub Template
For stubs, always use:
This tag should be placed at the bottom of the article page (below any categories and templates other than other stub templates). This is in addition to assessing the article as "|class = stub" on the the talk page. If the article is already tagged with {{stub}} replace it with one of the above tags but leave any other appropriate topic specific stub templates.
Category:cattle stubs, Category:horse stubs Category:goat stubs and Category:sheep stubs now have dual-parentage, they feed into both Category:mammal stubs (or Category:even-toed ungulate stubs) and Category:livestock stubs, there is no need to list any other Category:biology or Category:Agriculture stubs if you use one of these stub tags. Although upmerged, {{domestic-pig-stub}} also has dual parentage, being upmerged into both Category:livestock stubs and Category:even-toed ungulate stubs. On the other hand, the tags below do not feed into Agriculture categories, do not use these tags in place of an Agriculture stub template above, rather use them together with an Agriculture stub template.
[edit] For Birds
[edit] For Mammals
- See Mammal stubs
[edit] For Plants
Also: {{plant-disease-stub}} and very generally {{botany-stub}}, if needed.
Tag with all appropriate non-duplicative stub templates (e.g. don't tag with both {{Legume-stub}} and {{Faboideae-stub}} - only use the more specific {{Faboideae-stub}} if it applies), as these assist other editors in searching for stubs in topics they are interested in working on and may assist other projects in finding stubs related to their subject area (e.g. Wikipedia:WikiProject Botany in the case of plants). Additionally, some of these stubs may eventually feed into Agriculture as additional stubs, it will be easier if they are already tagged.
There is also {{Veterinary-med-stub}}
[edit] Infoboxes
We need suggestions for an infobox probably something like {{Infobox Horse}} and {{Infobox Chickenbreed}}; see ongoing work at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Agriculture/Infobox.
Use the format at Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life/Cultivar infobox
[edit] Navigational boxes
