The interesting work is being done in the following (autonomous) WikiProjects:

• WikiProject Chemicals, aiming at a full coverage of important chemical compounds.
• WikiProject Elements, aiming at a full coverage of all chemical elements in the periodic table along with all supporting articles
  • WikiProject Isotopes (New), aiming at coverage of all 3100 known isotopes Project inactive. Isotope articles taken care of by WikiProject Elements now
• WikiProject Rocks and Minerals, aiming at standardization for articles about rock and minerals
• Glass task force, a multidisciplinary task force aiming to improve Wikipedia articles about glass in all its forms
• WikiProject Physical Chemistry, to better organize information in articles related to physical chemistry, and the overlap with chemical physics.
• WikiProject Polymers, "to organize and disseminate all polymer related information on Wikipedia in a coordinated fashion."
• WikiProject Spectroscopy, "to better organize information in articles related to Spectroscopy."
• WikiProject Water purification
• Chemical infoboxes, providing specific, standard infoboxes for use in chemistry-related articles.
• Chemistry Collaboration of the Month, aimed at improving underdeveloped chemistry-related articles.
