Infoboxes

The WikiProject has a number of infoboxes devoted to different tasks.

For creators and companies

• {{Infobox comics creator}} - For creators who have worked in comics.
• {{Infobox comics creator biblio}} - For an example, see Jack Kirby bibliography.
• {{Infobox comics studio}} - This template is designed to be used with studios of artists working either in comics or in manga. For an example see Clamp (manga artists) or UDON
• {{Infobox company}} - A generic infobox not maintained by the WikiProject.

For comics as a medium

• {{Infobox comics nationality}} - This template is designed for use with articles on the comics of a particular nation or region.
• {{Infobox comics genre}} - This template is designed for use with articles on the particular genres used in comics.

For publications

• {{Infobox Graphic novel}} - This template is for graphic novels, manga volumes, European-style comic books, or any other single published comic works.
• {{Infobox comic book title}}- This template is intended for limited series
• {{Infobox comics story arc}} - This template is intended for story arcs that comprise only a portion of a title's full run or ran substantially through multiple title. For limited series use {{Infobox comic book title}} and for stories that have not been published yet use {{Infobox future comics}}
• {{Infobox comics meta series}} - This template is designed for articles that cover either: a comics series that spans multiple comics publications, generally limited series, such as Sin City or Locke & Key; have a character or team as a focus, such as Hellboy; a comic strip that has run as one among many in such publications. including strips which move from one publication to another, such as V for Vendetta or Rogue Trooper; or a grouping of comics publications or stories that were published with a loosely linked "theme", such as Faces of Evil or Marvel Noir. It is not intended for: comics strips which run in newspapers or non-comics magazines; story arcs, which should use {{Infobox comics story arc}}; Manga, Asian nor Manga-style publications, which should use {{Infobox Asian comic series}}; collected editions of European strips such as Tintin which use {{Infobox Graphic novel}}.
• {{Infobox Asian comic series}} - Designed for use with articles on Manga, Manhwa, Manhua, Asian or Manga-style publications.
• {{Infobox future comics}} - This template is intended to be replaced by either {{Infobox comics story arc}} or {{Infobox comic book title}} when the project actually begins publication.
• {{Infobox comic strip}} - For comics strips which run in newspapers or non-comics magazines

For characters, character types and other elements

• {{Infobox comics character}} - The main template for comics characters.
  • {{Infobox comics in other media}} - This infobox is designed for articles detailing the use and adaptation of comics characters outside of their parent medium, such as Barbara Gordon in other media. It should not be used with articles dealing with variations of a character with in comics, for those please use {{Infobox comics set index}}. It should also not be used for comics "sets" or "series" that span multiple publications, for those please use {{Infobox comics meta series}}.
• {{Infobox comics artifical species}} - This template is designed specifically for fictional species of artificial life forms, such as Manhunters, that appear in comics stories. This focuses on races whose members are "constructed" and does not include clone races, cyborg races, or genetically engineered races.
• {{Infobox comics species}} - This template is designed for fictional species that appear in comics stories. This includes Earth-based species, such as Cat People (comics); extraterrestrial species, such as Kleggs; and deities, such as Olympian Gods (DC Comics). For artificial life forms should use {{Infobox comics artificial species}}.
• {{Infobox comics elements}} - This infobox is designed for story elements or props. This includes things like weapons, equipments, and vehicles, things like Batmobile or Cerebro. It does not include buildings, which should use {{Infobox comics location}}, or artificial life forms, which should use either {{Infobox comics artificial species}} (as a group) or {{Infobox comics character}} (individuals).
• {{Infobox comics organization}} - This template is designed to be used in articles about organizations that appear in comic books. These may be companies, military units, governments, teams, or the like.
• {{Infobox comics location}} - This template is designed to be used in articles about locations that appear in comic books.
• {{Infobox comic strip character}} - For characters which appear in newspaper comic strips.
• {{Infobox comics set and title}} - This infobox is intended for use with "hub" or "set index" articles. These are articles that give an overview of the characters that have used a particular alias or codename, but where each of those characters have their own articles which use {{Infobox comics character}}. The articles will also cover or reference a comics series named for one or more of those characters. Examples of this are Robin (comics) and Flash (comics). Articles which cover multiple characters and only some of those characters have their own articles should use {{Infobox comics character}}, leaving out all information save the alter ego for the character(s) with a stand alone article. Examples of these are Doctor Fate and Atom (comics). For cases where the character set and the title have separate articles, use {{Infobox comics set index}} and {{Infobox comic book title}} respectively. Articles for character sets without a related comics series should use {{Infobox comics set index}}.
• {{Infobox comics set index}} - This infobox is intended for use with "hub" or "set index" articles. These are articles that give an overview of the characters that have used a particular alias or codename, but where each of those characters have their own articles which use {{Infobox comics character}}. Examples of this are Ant-Man and Kid Flash. Articles which cover multiple characters and only some of those characters have their own articles should use {{Infobox comics character}}, leaving out all information save the alter ego for the character(s) with a stand alone article. Examples of these are Doctor Fate and Atom (comics). If the infobox is going to be used on a hub article that covers characters and self titled comics, such as Robin (comics) or Flash (comics), should use {{Infobox comics set and title}}.

Combination infoboxes

• {{Infobox comics species and title}} - This template is designed to be used in articles about fictional species that appear in comics, and more specifically in a self titled comic. Examples of this are Inhumans and New Gods. For cases where the species and the title have separate articles, use {{Infobox comics species}} and {{Infobox comic book title}} respectively. Articles for species without a related comics series should use {{Infobox comics species}}.
• {{Infobox comics object and title}} - This template is designed to be used in articles about story elements or props that appear in comics, and more specifically in a self titled comic. Examples of this are Infinity Gauntlet and Star Brand. For cases where the element and the title have separate articles, use {{Infobox comics elements}} and {{Infobox comic book title}} respectively. Articles for elements without a related comics series should use {{Infobox comics elements}}.
• {{Infobox comics team and title}} - This template is designed to be used in aticles about organizations that apper in comics, and more specifically in a self titled comic. These may be companies, military units, governments, teams, or the like. Examples of this are Damage Control (comics) and Secret Six (comics). For cases where the organization and the title have separate articles, use {{Infobox comics organization}} and {{Infobox comic book title}} respectively. Articles for organizations without a related comics series should use {{Infobox comics organization}}.

Navigation box templates

Navigation boxes (navboxes) are helpful in collecting links to articles related to a central topic for the ease of navigating among articles.

Keeping in mind Wikipedia's guidelines for accessibility and color use, the navboxes used by the Comics Project should not use a color scheme that:

• Is only for the decoration of a single navbox;
• Is used on a single navbox to identify a character's or team's "colors"; or
• Can potentially become hard to read based on any state link text may be in.

Navboxes for closely related topics may have a unifying color scheme, but they must meet the needs of being visually accessible and there should be a reason for multiple navboxes other than to have a "different color". Otherwise the navbox should use the defaults for {{Navbox}} or the following colors which acoincide with the basic infobox colors used by the project:

• titlestyle = background-color: #77AAFF
• groupstyle = background-color: #77AAFF
• oddstyle = background:transparent
• evenstyle = background:#eef7ff

Also, based on Wikipedia:Navigation templates, the material contained within the navboxes used by this project should not include:

• Unlinked text or topics. The purpose of these templates is to provide connections between exiting articles, not to provide additional information in and of themselves.
• Links to non-existent topics or "redlinks". For the same reason unlinked text should be avoided. Further, including the redlinks gives a false impression of the need for the missing article.
• Topics that are, at best, tangentially related to the central topic of the navbox.

Stub templates

Comics related stub templates

A stub is an article containing only a few sentences of text which is too short to provide encyclopedic coverage of a subject, but not so short as to provide no useful information. Sizable articles are usually not considered stubs, even if they lack wikification or copy editing. With these articles, a cleanup template is usually added instead of a stub template. Note that small articles with little properly sourced information or with no inherent notability may end up being nominated for deletion or be merged into another relevant article.

The following are templates used to tag comics related articles as stubs.

Comics specific

• {{cleanup-comics}} will tag an article as needing some sort of clean up and place it in Category:Comics articles needing cleanup
• {{In-universe|subject=comics|category=comics}} will tag an article or section which does not differentiate fact from fiction. See the manual of style for more information.
• {{Issue}} will tag unreferenced statements, asking for the relevant issue number to be cited.
• {{Cleanup-tense}} will tag articles which use the past tense rather than the literary present tense to describe fictional events.

This template should be added only to the talk pages of relevant articles.

• Type {{comicsproj}} to produce:

• The WikiProject Comics project banner template allows certain tags which will categorise articles as in need of cleanup:
  • {{comicsproj|infobox=yes}} will tag the article as requiring an infobox.
  • {{comicsproj|image=yes}} will tag the article as requiring an image.
  • {{comicsproj|attention=yes}} will tag the article as requiring attention. Reasons for the attention include:

This image is from a comic strip, webcomic or from the cover or interior of a comic book. The copyright for this image is most likely owned by either the publisher of the comic or the writer(s) and/or artist(s) which produced the comic in question.
