Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

WikiProject Horror aims to define a standard of consistency for articles about fictional horror-related articles, primarily those that fall within the parameters of horror fiction and horror film. Through implementation of standards such as these, content can become more easily and quickly located with common organization and structure for horror-genre articles.

The purpose of this project is to supplement — not replace — the scope of WikiProject Film, WikiProject Novels, WikiProject Biography, and WikiProject Video games.

[edit] Tasks

edit·history·watch·refresh Stock post message.svg To-do list for Wikipedia:WikiProject Horror:

Short term

  • Revive newsletter
  • Cleanup project pages
  • Revive collaboration

Longer term

  • Hold elections for Coordinator, Deputy Coordinator and Assistant coordinators

[edit] Scope

WikiProject Horror's primary scope encompasses any article directly regarding fictional horror narratives in any print or visual medium, including but not limited to:

This scope extends to any articles concerning fictional aspects of fictional horror narratives, including but not limited to:

The project's primary scope additionally encompasses articles strictly concerning non-fiction material directly associated to fictional horror, including but not limited to:

The project's secondary scope encompasses biographical articles that are directly associated to fictional horror in general, including but not limited to:

The secondary scope is limited to articles whose focus in their field was horror; thus John Carpenter would be included, since he is a horror director, but Alfred Hitchcock would not be, since he was a noir/thriller director. A good rule of thumb is if the term "horror" appear notably in the article's lead.

This project's scope does not include musicians or songs that could be constituted as horror-oriented; e.g. Misfits (band), Skinny Puppy, or White Zombie. The project's scope also does not include articles concerning acts of real-life horror; e.g. John Wayne Gacy, Spanish Inquisition, or Vlad the Impaler.

[edit] Project organization

[edit] Coordinators

Project coordinators are responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the WikiProject, in addition to serving as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues and concerns. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers nor with any authority over article content or editor conduct.

The Project Coordinator bears overall responsibility concerning the project, with the Deputy and Assistant Coordinators aiding in general and focusing on specific areas that require special attention. The Deputy Coordinator acts in the place of the Coordinator when they are unavailable.

At current, WikiProject Horror has not held an election for these positions. The positions are currently filled by interim personnel.

Interim Personnel Position
TaerkastUA (talk · contribs) Coordinator
Andrzejbanas (talk · contribs) Deputy Coordinator
Bignole (talk · contribs) Assistant Coordinator
GamerPro64 (talk · contribs) Editor-in-Chief

More detailed descriptions of the coordinators' responsibilities, the history of the positions, and the process by which coordinators are selected may also be of some interest.

[edit] Participants

If you wish to join this project, please feel free to add your name to our Participants page!

In addition, participants and other Wikipedians who wish to show support for this project should feel free to add {{User WikiProject Horror}} to their user pages.

[edit] Task forces

Please discuss any proposals for new task forces with other members or with the project as a whole before creating them.

Task forces are informal groups of editors gathered for collaborative work on a particular topic within the fiction horror genre (as defined in the "scope" above); all project members are encouraged to participate in any task forces that may interest them.

[edit] Showcase

The following is a listing of articles (and other types of content) within the scope of the project that have been noted for their outstanding quality. Project members are encouraged to peruse these at their leisure, as they serve as excellent examples of different writing and organizational styles that one may wish to emulate.

Please note that the project does not necessarily claim any authorship or credit for creating these. While many were written by members—sometimes with extensive input from the project as a whole—others were created by uninvolved editors, or predate the existence of the project itself, and are listed here merely because they fall within our scope.
