In addition, this category helps Wikipedian photographers, living in Illinois, to locate those subjects near where they typically take photographs. The imageneeded= and in= parameters of {{WikiProject Illinois}} populate this category.

To request an image for an article, use the imageneeded=yes parameter in the {{WikiProject Illinois}} talk page template. Please use the in= parameter in the {{WikiProject Illinois}} template to specify the Illinois county, where the photograph may be taken. Up to three locations may be specified, for example:
