Wikipedia:WikiProject Languages/Primary language names in Ethnologue 14 and 15

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The following 660 language names are listed as primary names in Ethnologue 14 or 15, and some from Ethnologue 16 which were changed by 2012, so that when first listed here they were red links but did not duplicate red links on Wikipedia:WikiProject Languages/Language articles by ISO code. (There are others which already had redirects, and so were not found.) A significant fraction are retired names from over-zealous splitting in Mesoamerica, but many others are simple alternate spellings. Not included are several Khoisan languages with pipes (|Gwi, Hai||om, etc.), and an Arabic lect with 'Sa<idi', as WP coding does not allow those characters in links, and all have articles.

Note: This list should be retained even once all links are blue, as checking 'what links here' on the redirect will provide justification for its existence.
