The purpose of this WikiProject is to create, expand, improve and standardize articles about Mars. This WikiProject is in the process of transition from a Martian geography only project to a general Mars project.   • The Mars article needs proof-reading for typos and sentence structure - nearly there...
  • The Life on Mars page needs a lot of work, would be nice to have it promoted to a good article...
  • Geology of Mars needs a discussion of crater types, especially rampart craters and implications for surface composition
  • colonization of Mars deserves to be looked at

In general,follow the model of the Mars Reconaissance Orbiter homepage.

An article should contain the following sections:

  1. History of the spacecraft-> This can include launch issues, end of life of the spacecraft, funding issues, major milestones (Launch, Orbit, landing, major discoveries), etc.
  2. What was learned from the mission. For newer and future missions, this may not be included.
  3. Description of scientific instruments
  4. Description of the spacecraft
  5. See Also section
  6. Footnote section
  7. Other external references
