This is a WikiProject, a collaboration area and open group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of a particular topic, or to organizing some internal Wikipedia process. Please see the Guide to WikiProjects and the Directory of WikiProjects for more information.

A group of Wikipedians has formed this WikiProject to better manage Wikipedia's myriad templates. This page and all subpages of this page contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. The main goal of this WikiProject is:

To help manage the template namespace of Wikipedia.

[edit] Scope

It consists of:

1. Conducting efforts to better organize, document and display all templates in the template namespace, including: navigation templates, infobox templates, inline templates linking country articles, stub types, image copyright tags and user language templates (Babel).
2. Solving specific templates issues, such as standardisation and locations.
3. Improving the general documentation on how to create and use templates, in addition to improving the documentation pages of the individual templates.
4. Clean-up of the unused, unneeded and/or redundant templates, using the templates for deletion (TfD) process and guidelines.
5. Providing help and guidance in creating, updating, correcting and testing templates.

WikiProject Council would like to inform all Wikipedians that it may be advantageous to: Join WikiProjects of your field of knowledge or interest. This will provide you with a forum in which to exchange opinions, identify common goals with respect to articles under that topic, and coordinate opportunities to share your knowledge. You may also join Maintenance WikiProjects, where the focus is on the organization and functioning of Wikipedia in general. Beware of overloading yourself with WikiProject memberships, however. Keep involved in a handful of WikiProjects to which you can actively and assiduously contribute, and always be willing to help any WikiProject, when you see an opportunity, regardless of membership.
