- May 8: 1 vs. 100 enters open beta stage for Canadian XBL gold subscribers. It is due for release in Spring 2009.
- April 28: BioShock 2 is a first-person shooter video game, developed by 2K Marin as the sequel to the critically-acclaimed BioShock. It is due for release in autumn 2009 simultaneously on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows platforms.
- Microsoft announced lower retail prices for the gaming and entertainment console in the United States, which offers the leading Xbox LIVE service. Beginning September 5, Xbox 360 Arcade retails for the estimated price of $199.99, the Xbox 360 console for $299.99, and Xbox 360 Elite for $399.99.
- Microsoft's award-winning Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers are now available for a limited time in red with newly designed black accents.
- Microsoft announced an Xbox 360 console with triple the storage space of the original console, but for the same price of $349 (U.S.) estimated retail price.

Xbox 360 Avatars are avatars that represent users of the Xbox Live service on the Xbox 360 video game console. Avatars debuted on the Xbox 360 with the release of the "New Xbox Experience" system update on November 19, 2008.
Users are able to customize body shape, gender, facial features, hair style, and clothing. They can then display a 2D head shot of their Avatar on their Gamercard (although they are still free to use their previous picture should they so choose).
Microsoft has indicated that earning Achievements in future Xbox 360 games can reward players with new clothing for their Avatar.
