Thanks[edit]

To John Carter and others who have made the project start just that little bit easier - please note that the project page and portal page and a few other places will have general news about the start up in the near future -SatuSuro 01:05, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Some help needed[edit]

The importance part is working http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Asia_articles_by_importance - anyone for fixing up the assessment 'other bit'? viz http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Asia/Assessment  ?? SatuSuro 13:35, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Accomplished. Do you want the image from the member template substituted into the banner, maybe in place of the image on the left? I've always found it works best if only a single image is used in the main project templates, it might help reduce confusion. John Carter (talk) 21:35, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
Please if you can - yes!! thnx for the rest SatuSuro 23:41, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

North Asia[edit]

Perhaps there should be a taskforce for North Asia? Russia is also in Europe, Central Asia and East Asia... defining a North Asia area might be good for articles. 76.66.203.138 (talk) 18:46, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

WikiWomen's History Month[edit]

Hi everyone. March is Women's History Month and I'm hoping a few folks here at WP:Asia will have interest in putting on events (on and off wiki) related to women's roles in Asia's history, society and culture. We've created an event page on English Wikipedia (please translate!) and I hope you'll find the inspiration to participate. These events can take place off wiki, like edit-a-thons, or on wiki, such as themes and translations. Please visit the page here: WikiWomen's History Month. Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to seeing events take place! SarahStierch (talk) 21:26, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Burma → Myanmar requested-move notification[edit]

A requested move survey has been started (by Marcus Qwertyus (talk)) at Talk:Burma, which proposes to move:

Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. — P.T. Aufrette (talk) 22:43, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Portal:Geography at portal peer review[edit]

Portal:Geography is now up for portal peer review, the review page is at Wikipedia:Portal peer review/Geography/archive1. I've put a bit of effort into this as part of a featured portal drive related to portals linked from the top-right corner of the Main Page, and feedback would be appreciated prior to featured portal candidacy. Thank you for your time, — Cirt (talk) 21:03, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

Timur[edit]

I would like to improve direct support of Asian language titles in citation templates. See Module talk:Citation/CS1/Feature requests#Asian titles. I would welcome the input of anyone with expertise in this area. --  Gadget850 (Ed) talk 19:54, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Bang Habib article.[edit]

Hello. I've just recently nominated Bang Habib and Eri Satria to the AfD board because I feel that these two articles, created by SaidMuqaffa (talk · contribs), don't really look like legit articles with no reliable links and sources to prove their existence. The Bang Habib article even looks like a partial copy-edit because its infobox has TV3 Sweden's logo. I'm not from Indonesia myself to forward any more proof other than my hunches, so I'm asking any good and credible user from Indonesia, especially from Langsa, where the two "stations" are allegedly based, to have their say. I've already forwarded this to the Wikiproject Indonesia discussion page, but I also want to reach out to anyone who also lurks here for further assistance. I appreciate your help. Thanks! - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 11:55, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Iraqi Kurdistan level of autonomy[edit]

A "Request for Comments" has been opened at Iraqi Kurdistan talk page, whether to include Iraqi Kurdistan region as part of the list of political entities in Asia. The question is whether Iraqi Kurdistan is of similar status of autonomy as Hong Kong and Macau, to be included in template:Asia topic. Please discuss at Iraqi Kurdistan talk page.GreyShark (dibra) 14:24, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Lao speakers: Lao article on Lao Airlines Flight 301 needed[edit]

Lao Airlines Flight 301 does not yet have an article on Lao. Lao speakers need to write an article on it on the Lao Wikipedia. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:14, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect Info -- the "List of Largest Asian Cities"[edit]

In this wiki article of "Largest Asian Cities," there is no listing of Chongqing China, with a metro area population of 28.8 million (2010 data). This places Chongqing as the 2nd largest under Tokyo. Tokyo's 38 million figure uses its metro area, and Chongqing should be treated accordingly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.84.234.41 (talk) 08:31, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

CfD discussion for societies and cultures[edit]

There is a discussion going on right now at WP:Categories for discussion that involves changing the category names for all cultures, from, for example, "Afghan society" to "Society of Afghanistan". I can see that next will be changing "German culture" to "Culture of Germany" and the like. This would be for all ethnicities, nationalities and cultures.
If you would like to weigh in, the conversation is occurring at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2014 March 27#Society by country.

Leaflet for Wikiproject Asia at Wikimania 2014[edit]

Project Leaflet WikiProject Medicine back and front v1.png

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Template:Post-Cold War Asian conflicts[edit]

I created this template as the sister of Template:Post-Cold War European conflicts. I still have trouble listing conflicts located in Asia due to geographical complexities. And I don't want to list too many. --George Ho (talk) 08:32, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Expert attention[edit]

I created Category:Asia articles needing expert attention for making Category:Western Asia articles needing expert attention a child of it. Category:Asia articles needing expert attention will maybe be populated in the future, and might be of interest to your WikiProject. Iceblock (talk) 02:22, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Why is RoC different to Kosovo?[edit]

I've opened a discussion at Talk: Taiwan about how to describe the Republic of China consistent with how Wikipedia describes other partially recognised states like Kosovo. Participation welcomed. Frenchmalawi (talk) 19:17, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
