Discussion[edit]

Any first thoughts? I've set the preliminary guidelines out to effectively be what is status quo for the project (slightly different from the Olympics project in that not every single event is notable for an article, but we can discuss that). I agree with the great majority of what's there. I would add a caveat to the main games naming in that when the most common form has the date at the end (e.g. World Combat Games 2010) then we should use that style (although this is the sole example I have of this). I entirely agree that limiting event-specific coverage of minor games could be a positive thing, leading to a better focus on general coverage instead. Where the event is not of a high standard for the sport, then we can probably do without an article coverage. For example, the 2010 South American Games has some extensive coverage that it could probably do without. Still, I would not recommend going on a deletion spree – my point of view is that the content is entirely factual, someone has already put in the effort to make it, and there may well be someone who is interested in that level of detail. I'll look to add more to the guidelines shortly. SFB 17:57, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
