List of The Inbetweeners characters

This is a list of characters from the British sitcom The Inbetweeners that ran for three series from 2008–2010, as well as the film that was released on 17 August 2011 in the UK.

Major characters

Will McKenzie

• Played by Simon Bird
• 2008–2011
• Will's parents have recently split up, and as a result he has moved from a typical "posh private school" to the sixth form at the local comprehensive school. He is an unconventional hero. His mother, Polly McKenzie, attributes the move to bullying rather than money problems. Everyone in the school – even the school bully, Mark Donovan, and Phil Gilbert, the Head of sixth form; think Polly is "fit". On moving to the new school, Simon, Neil and Jay reluctantly become Will's friends after initially trying to avoid him. The group warm to him after several efforts to win their friendship – including successfully buying alcohol and "not having sex" with the school's most attractive girl. Will aspires to have a career in law or maybe the media, and was supposed to be attending a local newspaper for work experience. However, a mix-up with applications sends Neil to the newspaper (instead of "driving aeroplanes") and Will spends his placement at a garage. After Neil claimed there wasn't any room for him at the local newspaper, Will's reaction was, "Please, tell me you're joking". At the end of the second series, when the boys face exams, Will began to crack under pressure and relies on energy drinks to keep him going. This leads to him soiling himself in his final exam, and after sitting it several hours late, he goes to the pub and gets very drunk, compensating for the fact that he has probably failed his Politics AS level. He is seen to be interested in Charlotte "Big Jugs" Hinchcliffe, and the two of them have been known to spend time together, with Will usually messing it up. He nearly lost his virginity to Charlotte after telling her in school a few days before that he had had numerous lovers, although when they did attempt to have sex, Charlotte was let down by Will's unsuccessful attempt; in his own words "rubbing up against the perineum". In Series 3, Will is convinced into going on a double date with Simon, Tara, and Tara's friend, Kerry (or "Big" Kerry according to Will). He is repulsed by her as she is taller than him, a bit ditzy and boring; however once he hears how she is infamous for giving blowjobs to her last few boyfriends, he goes along with it. They unexpectedly share a kiss when Kerry escorts him back home, which gives her the impression that they are now going out. At Neil's birthday party, Will can no longer pretend and tells her that they are not really going out, not knowing that Tara set the two up because she assumed Will could comfort her after her father died the month before. His breakup devastates her and causes a dramatic misunderstanding among Neil's relatives, who all take her side, and as a result, Will is kicked out by Neil's dad, who reports the incident to his mother. Will then gets grounded for three weeks for "doing nothing wrong." Will later attempts to arrange a final camp-out with the gang before they split up after leaving school. Will serves as the main narrator in the show.

Simon Cooper

• Simon becomes good friends with Will after initially avoiding him due to his "actual briefcase", "clumpy shoes" and "gay hair". His first task of the new term is showing Will to his classes – a task assigned by the head of sixth form, Mr Gilbert. Simon is the oldest of the group and was the first to learn how to drive, having passed his practical test (in dubious circumstances) before Christmas. His father bought him a small, yellow Fiat Cinquecento Hawaii – Simon, his friends and others think the car is highly embarrassing and a horrible colour. It lost its passenger side door due to a reversing incident at Thorpe Park, but in series two the door has been replaced, albeit with a red one. Moreover, the most unfortunate feature of the car is that it has a tape deck. His parents briefly split up in the episode "The Duke of Edinburgh Awards", but they had reconciled by the end of the episode. Simon has a crush on his childhood friend Carli D'Amato since she was eight, an interest which becomes more apparent throughout the series. Despite many pathetic attempts to show her his feelings – such as spray painting "I Love Carli D'Amato" on her driveway – for a long time she didn't reciprocate, partly due to having a boyfriend, but in the final episode of the second series: "Exam Time", Carli seemed interested in Simon after she split up with her boyfriend and they end up kissing while studying for A-Levels at Simon's house. Carli agreed to meet Simon at the local pub for a post-exam drink, but when she arrived it was revealed she had reconciled with Tom, her boyfriend. In Series 3, Simon takes part in the school fashion show, but embarrasses himself and Carli when he walks along the catwalk in Speedos with his bare testicle visible. In the episode 'The Gig and the Girlfriend,' Simon gets a girlfriend, Tara, with whom he went to a concert and got stoned. In 'Will's Dilemma' he is seen receiving a handjob from Tara at Neil's party (this was after Neil had given consent, loudly saying "Don't spunk on the sheets!" in an elderly relative's presence). Simon is perhaps the most irritable of the group, especially when in discussions with his family, where he frequently overreacts to gentle goading and even kindly advice. In the last episode, the boys play a phone game where they have to send embarrassing messages to anyone on their phonebook. Simon later receives a text back from Carli that leaves him with a smile, which suggests she feels the same way as Simon, and shows there is more in store for him and Carli. His car rolls into a lake in the last episode.

Jay Cartwright

• Played by James Buckley
• 2008–2011
• Jay is obsessed with sex, with almost all his comments being about the subject. He frequently lies and exaggerates about his experiences – sexual and otherwise – often making crude comments about girls/women in general and offering highly questionable 'advice' to his friends. In fact he is the least sexually experienced of the group, frequently relying on pornography to attain gratification, as he finds it difficult engaging with girls. His dad contradicts Jay's claims in an often bullying nature, claiming Jay is very unsuccessful with women (this is likely the source of Jay's obsession), and is always 'putting him down' in some way or another. At the end of the first series, he opens up to John, admitting that many of his stories are somewhat exaggerated because he is worried that people do not notice him, and that he is afraid of being ignored. It is implied in the last episode that Jay may have been sexually abused by his neighbour, when Neil mentions a "game" that Jay and the neighbour used to "play" in the garden shed, which Jay denies abruptly. He is often quite arrogant, another recurring theme of Jay's character is that he often steals things, such as hair removal cream ("Duke Of Edinburgh Awards") and a sexy flyer for a party ("Will's Birthday") from a girl named Sadie Cunningham - he often says that he "stole it out of Sadie Cunningham's bag during registration".

Neil Sutherland

• Played by Blake Harrison
• 2008–2011
• "Neil Lindsay Sutherland" is known to be the slow, and somewhat dim-witted member of the group. He takes part in the school's version of Blind Date; winning an unwanted date with Susie. He works at Thorpe Park, and reveals that he used to work at Asda. He can do the robot and has a crush on his biology teacher Miss Timms. Due to his slow nature, he is often the only person who believes Jay's outrageous stories, and often fails to pick up the sarcasm in Will's one liners. His friends tease him about his father being homosexual. Both he and his father strongly deny these rumours. He has, along with Simon, passed his driving test and also owns a car, but he is yet to drive it as it does not have an engine. Despite being the slow member of the group, his friendly, outgoing nature has brought him some luck with women, fingering several girls, and having spent a night in Simon's car with a Goth in the series one episode "Caravan Club." It is also revealed that he snogged and fingered Charlotte Hinchcliffe after Will was with her, although telling Will only of the snog. He also managed to get a blow job off Will's crying date Kerry after his 18th birthday party. It is seen in the deleted scenes of Series 3 that Neil's middle name is Lindsay. In the show, Neil is known to end up with sexual encounters with various seen and unseen female characters on the show, eventually ending up with chlamydia (which he is actually happy about, since he assumed her text saying 'the test was positive' meant that she was pregnant).

Secondary characters

Phil Gilbert

• Played by Greg Davies
• 2008–2011
• Mr Gilbert is the head of Sixth Form, and has taken a strong dislike to the boys, Will, in particular. He is somewhat sardonic, often taking delight at any misfortune that happens to Will – even going so far as to threaten him if he snitched on whoever tied him up and put a bin over his head. He went into complete hysterics upon hearing that Will got thrown into the lake during the work placement, in front of Will's mother. In Series 3, he gives Jay and Neil four weeks' detention after they mention "Waterside", the shopping centre they spotted him buying soft toys in. He is currently single, and refers to Will's mum as "very much his type". He also threatens Will that he will completely ruin his University application if he does not find out who destroyed the local roundabout's flower arrangement, as he believes Will sticks his "beaky nose" into everybody's business and must know who did it. On the last day of school, Gilbert gives a condescending speech to the students. He appears in the very last shot of the film riding a quad bike through the streets of Malia in his underwear. Simon and Will encounter him chugging beer at a stag party in a deleted scene.

Carli D'Amato

• Carli is Simon's love interest and has been since they were eight. Although she is well aware of his crush on her, she only seems to think of him as a platonic friend, though she is not above occasionally using it to her advantage. Simon is unaware of Carli's mean, self-centered personality, something that Simon's friends are able to notice. In particular, Will and Jay have expressed outright contempt for her - in "Girlfriend", Will refers to her as 'that arsehole Carli who's always just stringing you along' to Simon and in "Will's Birthday", Jay refers to her as 'little miss stuck up cock-tease.' She splits up with boyfriend Tom near the end of the second series, and in the episode "Exam Time", Carli and Simon exchange several kisses and agree to meet at the nearby pub for a post-exam celebratory drink. This relationship only lasts for a few days as she reconciles with Tom before the end of the episode. In episode one of series three, Carli begins to dislike Simon after he accidentally revealed one of his testicles in the fashion show, believing he did it on purpose to make a fool out of her. However, in the series finale, Carli seems to be more affectionate towards Simon, hinting at a potential relationship, were Simon not moving to Swansea. She later replies to a prank text, sent by the boys from Simon's phone. However Simon refuses to reveal the nature of the response after expressing great pleasure upon reading it. At the beginning of the film, Simon and Carli are finally a couple, but she dumps him, claiming it is because they are going to different universities. He encounters her in Malia and tries to win her back. Carli kisses Simon at the boat party, but he realises she is using him to make her boyfriend James jealous. He tells her that he can't be with her and wishes her the best with her life, before getting involved with Lucy.

Mark Donovan

• Played by Henry Lloyd-Hughes
• 2008–2011
• Donovan is the school bully, who often picks on Will. This is partly because he caught Will kissing his ex-girlfriend Charlotte. Donovan is somewhat sensitive, ensuring that Will is "gentle" with Charlotte and becoming violent towards exchange student Patrice when he's caught in bed with Charlotte. He is the typical bully, who is polite and friendly in front of parents or teachers, but is otherwise a thug. When he reveals his sensitive side to Will, he threatens him with death if he speaks of it. He appears to be less hostile, but by no means friendly, towards Jay, Simon or Neil. In series 3, it is revealed that Mark is doing drugs, what seems to be cannabis. Donovan briefly appears in the film, giving Will an old school wedgie as a farewell, and calls Jay, Simon and Neil dick heads.

Charlotte Hinchcliffe

• Played by Emily Atack
• 2008–2010
• Charlotte "Big Jugs" Hinchcliffe is a very attractive – and promiscuous – girl, and the most popular girl in school. Will kissed her twice, and attempted to have sex with her, claiming he had had sex before. Despite her reputation, nickname and the stereotypes shown with other popular girls in the school, notably Carli, Charlotte is a very friendly, compassionate girl. She is also not as shallow as the other popular girls in the school, and appears interested in Will somewhat, serving as his chief love interest in the series. Unfortunately, he often makes a fool of himself in front of her, and occasionally offends her. She works as a barmaid, and is often found upstairs at a party having sex, including with Simon's sex-crazed French exchange student, Patrice – shortly after meeting him. In the first series Charlotte claimed to have slept with eleven boys, and Jay mentioned that "she once munched off the whole rugby team" in spite of the fact that their school doesn't even have a rugby team. Neil also admits to kissing her shortly after she had 'broken it off' with Will and hints that he had also fingered her. She also called Will a "nasty little virgin" and threw a drink at him in the second episode of Series 2 after he had spread offensive rumours around his workplace that she was his porn star girlfriend. In the first episode of series three, it is revealed that she has done catalogue modelling, and that she was a special guest in the fashion show. She admits to Will that he is the sort of person she would like to date, but then reveals she does not want him specifically.

Tara

• Played by Hannah Tointon
• 2010
• Tara is in the year below the four main characters and becomes a love interest for Simon when he accidentally sits on her in the common room, after which they get talking and she invites him to a gig. She becomes Simon's girlfriend in the episode "The Gig and the Girlfriend". Simon promises to bring weed to the gig, after Jay claims (though he was lying) that his friend could get them some. They eventually do find some weed and all get high, culminating in Tara feeling sick and throwing up while kissing Simon. Her final appearance is in the episode "The Trip to Warwick", in which Simon and Tara plan to go to her sister's house in Warwick to have sex. Simon brings along the other boys, angering Tara. Simon scares Tara after he can't get an erection (after following some fairly unhelpful advice from Jay), and attempts to induce one by hitting himself. He and the other boys then get kicked out of Tara's sister's house and Simon receives a text telling him to "never contact her again".
• When her name is mentioned, Jay often makes a "beepity beep beep" noise as a "Tara Update", because Simon talks about her constantly.

Big John

• Played by John Seaward
• 2008–2011
• John Webster, better known as 'Big John' is a simple student who joined the school at the same time as Will. John is constantly bullied for being overweight, and is often seen eating. In the final episode of the first series he tells Jay that he has had counselling, though what for is unclear. Despite his general unpopularity, he is invited to a party that Will, Simon, Jay and Neil weren't invited to and is seen successfully flirting with a girl, with his hand on her breast. He is seen sporadically throughout the series and is often seen eating. In the Inbetweeners Yearbook, his full name is revealed to be 'John Webster' and he is featured prominently throughout the yearbook; including his artwork and reviews of food in the yearbook. He reveals he is somewhat obsessed with Jay after their encounter at the prom and wishes to remain in contact with him after Sixth Form. He also wishes for people to call him 'Awesome John'. He is briefly seen in the movie, during the speech from Mr Gilbert; where it is revealed Big John has poor personal hygiene. He is never seen again after this.

Mr Kennedy

• Played by Waen Shepherd
• 2009–2010
• John "Paedo" Kennedy is a Geography teacher at Rudge Park. Many rumours circulate of him being a paedophile, and he shows a particular attraction towards Neil. He goes as far in series 2 to take Neil swimming (or "skinny dipping" rather) whilst on a Geography trip and uses vodka as an incentive for Neil to do so. Mr. Gilbert makes it clear that he is aware of Mr. Kennedy's tendencies, usually stating that he "has his neck on the line" for him, he is still, however, employed by the school, much to Will's and the others' incredulity.

Alison

• Played by Laura Haddock
• 2011
• Alison is Will's love interest in the film. The boys first see her with her friends- Lucy, Jane and Lisa- when they board the coach after arriving in Malia. They later meet the girls in an empty bar and begin conversation with them after failing to impress them with their dance moves. Will finds himself chatting to Alison and, when discussing why they are in Malia, pokes fun at her cliched "Greek waiter boyfriend", thinking that she's joking - only to be humiliated when she reveals she wasn't. Later on, Will decides to make a move on Alison, reasoning that "Clearly Alison's out of my league, but then all girls I like are out of my league," and, whilst having a conversation about sex, Will confesses to Alison that he is a virgin. She makes a deal with him that if he has not had sex by the following year she will have sex with him, as long as they are both single. Will stumbles upon Alison's boyfriend Nicos having sex with another woman at the beach, and Alison runs off in tears, vowing never to have sex with anyone ever again, and especially not Will. The following day, however, Alison is less upset, and feels better when she sees Will in a worse state than her. She gives Will Nicos' ticket for the boat party and invites him to join her, on condition that "at no point are you allowed to say "I told you so." At the boat party, Alison asks Will if she may be his girlfriend, which he eagerly accepts. They spend the rest of the holiday as a couple and return to Britain together, at which point she meets his mother.

Lucy

• Played by Tamla Kari
• 2011
• Lucy is Simon's love interest in the film. The boys first see her with her friends- Alison, Jane and Lisa- when they board the coach after arriving in Malia. They later meet the girls in an empty bar and begin conversation with them after failing to impress them with their dance moves. Simon bores Lucy by only talking about Carli. He later annoys her at a hotel by asking if she can get him tickets for the boat party so he can impress Carli. When they meet up at the bar that evening, Lucy takes a liking to Simon's new attitude, where he declares that they will drink shots until one of them is "sick through their nose". She is less impressed when he asks her to pay for the drinks. The group go skinny dipping and Simon and Lucy almost kiss until he sees Carli on the beach and leaves Lucy alone in the sea. The following day, when they encounter the boys at a restaurant, Lucy heads off down the beach rather than going to talk to them, and when a confused Simon questions why, Alison states that he should go and ask her, rather than constantly talking about Carli. Simon apologizes to Lucy, and she gives him her ticket. Not recognizing this as a gesture of compassion, Simon takes the ticket and boards the boat, leaving her alone on the beach. He finds Carli on the boat and she kisses him, at which point he realises that she is only trying to make her boyfriend James jealous. He tells her that he can't be with her, and realises that Lucy is more worthy of his affections, and realises the only way to make it up to her is to perform a grand romantic gesture, so he jumps off the boat and attempts to swim to shore, to much applause. However, it is too far out, and he almost drowns, but is rescued by the coast guard. When he reaches the coast, Lucy kisses him. She stays with him in hospital and they spend the rest of the holiday as a couple. They return to Britain together and she meets his parents. His father checks her out and his mother instantly bonds with her, which annoys him.

Jane

• Played by Lydia Rose Bewley
• 2011
• Jane is Jay's love interest in the film. The boys first see her with her friends- Alison, Lucy and Lisa- when they board the coach after arriving in Malia. They later meet the girls in an empty bar and begin conversation with them after failing to impress them with their dance moves. Jay "gets stuck" with Jane, who is bubbly, if somewhat overweight - although she very casually brushes off any effort to mock it, saying "I've heard them all." She tries to get along with him, but he constantly makes fat jokes about her. When the group go skinny dipping, Jane attempts to kiss Jay, but he is embarrassed to be seen with her so she leaves him behind. At the boat party, he decides to find her to apologize and make it up to her, even slating Neil for making a fat joke about her. After Jay apologizes to Jane, she takes him into the toilets to perform oral sex on him. After finishing, they encounter James, who mocks Jane's weight and demands drugs from Jay. Jay gives him a €20 note that had been concealed in his anus to be used as a bribe for 'corrupt foreign police' when necessary, resulting in James unknowingly walking around with faeces on the end of his nose for the rest of the day. (He doesn't seem to notice this as women he tries talking to move away from him.). They spend the rest of the holiday as a couple and return to Britain together. She meets his parents, and his father kisses her on the lips.

Lisa

• Played by Jessica Knappett
• 2011
• Lisa is Neil's love interest in the film. The boys first see her with her friends- Alison, Lucy and Jane- when they board the coach after arriving in Malia. They later meet the girls in an empty bar and begin conversation with them after failing to impress them with their dance moves. Neil has a non-conversation with Lisa, but they get on by dancing. Despite repeated chances with her, he constantly messes it up by dancing with older women. At the boat party, Neil bumps into Richard and is introduced to Richard's parents (both senior citizens), who came over at Richard's request to pick him up. When Neil is about to kiss the mother, Lisa rushes over and tells her to back off as she thinks Neil makes a move on her. They begin dry-humping in a seating area, and Lisa feels guilty about Neil's girlfriend Nicole. After Neil tells Lisa that Nicole dumped him they feel no longer limited in the kind of sex they have. They spend the rest of the holiday as a couple and return to Britain together. She meets his father, but Neil spots Nicole, who had not really dumped him. He grabs Lisa's hand and runs, as a unaware Nicole looks on.

Minor and one-off characters

David Glover

• Played by Richie Hart
• 2008-2010
• David is a student at the school who appears in several episodes but doesn't say very much. He is popular and looks down on the four primary characters, referring to Will as a "posh little prick" and calling Neil a "twat". David plays Nintendo DS and snooker at school. In the Inbetweeners Yearbook, he is briefly mentioned by Neil in the map of Rudge Park; Neil says that him and Jay had a fight outside of school and that the video was uploaded to YouTube but taken down shortly after for being too violent. This is highly doubtful however and is probably a lie fabricated by Jay to Neil.

David

• Played by Unspecified Actor
• 2008-2010
• David is a new student who arrives at the school the same time as Will. He is sporadically seen throughout the series, helping with the Christmas prom and attending Neil's 18th Birthday Party. He is known for having acne and being a member of the 'freaks'. He is friends with 'Big John'. His only lines are in the Deleted Scenes of Series 1, where he is also forced to eat his own badge by Mark Donovan.

'Football Friend'

• Played by Luke Norris
• 2008
• Jay's older friend who he allegedly met during trials for West Ham. Jay later bumps into him at a party. The rest of the group continuously mock Jay for having a friend outside of those four by saying 'friend' or 'car friend' in a high-pitched voice, and giving him the double thumbs-up. This irritates Jay to the extent that, upon seeing the car at the side of the road, jumps upon the bonnet aggressively, yelling "fucking football friend" until the man arrives on the scene and chases them off. Jay mentions later that he had to borrow £300 to have the car repaired.

Lauren Harris

• Played by Jayne Wisener
• 2009
• Lauren is a Northern Irish girl who joins the school in the second term. Will fancies her, but she prefers Simon, and this comes into conflict between them. After the school's field trip to Swanage, she moves away.

Susie

• Played by Anabel Barnston
• 2008
• Susie is a geeky girl who joined the school along with Will. She is taking her A-Levels 4 years early. She has an interest in Russian literature, and Neil (regrettably) picked her in the charity Blind Date. Neil unwillingly takes Susie to Milwaukee Fried Chicken (an analogue of KFC); however, owing to the age difference, Susie's mother must come with them. Simon, Jay and Will come to watch them under the impression that Neil and his date are sitting around a bargain bucket.

Samantha Leah

• Played by Jo Maycock
• 2008
• Samantha is similar to Jay, stating that Jay's monologue on sensitivity and trust made him seem "bent". Taken aback by this statement which seemed more like something that Jay himself would say, he invites her to spend part of the school prom in the DJ booth. He claims that she gave him a blow job; an assertion that is quickly dismissed by the other boys.

Daisy

• Played by Catherine Steadman
• 2009
• Daisy used to be Will's babysitter. She is invited to Will's mum's barbecue, and mentioned how she works at the care home. Will, Simon and Jay later work at the care home as a volunteer on part of their Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Will hits it off with Daisy, and after going on a date (which is actually just Daisy saying thank you to Will for covering her at work) they go back to her apartment. Unfortunately, Will has no pubes because Jay has used hair remover on Will whilst he was sleeping in the common room. Will decided to follow Simon's advice and "wear a wig down there". When Daisy finds the wig, she is not amused. She has been concerned throughout their relationship that Will was too young for her, and seeing him now without any pubes causes her to feel very guilty and want nothing more to do with him in that sense.

Miss Timms

• Played by Amanda St. John
• 2008
• Miss Timms is a Biology teacher at Rudge Park Comprehensive. Neil is in her class, and finds her very attractive. When drunk at the school disco, Neil attempts to kiss her, but gets a boner then is escorted out by Mr. Gilbert.

Chris D'Amato

• Played by Deo Simcox.
• 2008, 2010
• Chris is Carli's younger brother. In the series one episode Bunk Off, Will upsets him by telling him about terrorists. Afterwards, Simon accidentally vomits on his head. In the series three episode Camping Trip, a drunk Simon sneaks into his bedroom in the middle of the night and feels him up, believing it to be Carli's room. This causes Chris further distress.

Chloe

• Played by Lizzie Stables
• 2009
• Chloe dated Jay in the finale episode of the 2nd series. We are told that Jay met her at the bus stop and their relationship followed on from there. Later on Chloe ends the relationship due to Jay being too needy and obsessive.

Richard

• Played by Theo Barklem-Biggs
• 2011
• Richard is a socially awkward teenager that the boys have several encounters with in Malia. On a holiday alone, he constantly tries to bond with them, but they ignore him. He is evidently broke, asking them for money, beer and a chance to use their shower. He eventually has a crying fit, at which point his parents fly in to pick him up.

Rachel

• Played by Lily Lovett
• 2009–2011
• Rachel is Carli's best friend who strongly dislikes Simon over his obsession with Carli. She plays a main role in the episode Night Out in London where Will attempts to 'pull' her in a London nightclub when he is amazed that she likes him enough to speak to him. However, she goes for another boy.

Tom

• Played by Ollie Holme
• 2008–2009
• Tom is Carli's boyfriend. A few years older than she is and so not at the school, he is a rugby type who neglects her for his teammates at times and the couple have split in the final episode of series 2, only to get back together again. Tom seems a kind hearted and wise man, and has never been anything but civil towards Simon, who despises him for the romantic connection he has with Carli. Simon also tries to deny and challenge the fact that the two are even involved.

Patrice

• Played by Vladimir Consigny
• 2009
• Patrice is a French exchange student, the son of Pamela Cooper's friend. He lives with Simon for a short time, displays little interest in the boys, and has bad habits that include urinating in gardens. Patrice is a racist who spontaneously tells the boys that he dislikes Arabs. He shows little regard to accepted social norms and openly tells Will that he had just masturbated in the bathroom whilst thinking about Will's mother. Patrice is very attractive to women - even Simon and Will's mothers seem to fancy him. He is seen in bed with Charlotte at a party; Mark Donovan shows up and Will tells him that Charlotte is upstairs. The boys ditch Patrice, assuming that he will be beaten up by Donovan.

Danny Moore

• Danny appears in season 2, Work Experience. He is a 12-year old boy from Northwood and his family are said to be involved in crime. He starts a feud with Simon after he bumped into him while walking to class. Jay insults him for his angry reaction, but Danny believes that Simon said this. When Simon is receiving a handjob from Hannah Fields at a disco, Danny comes out of nowhere and attacks Simon, thereafter finding several older lads from Northwood to beat them up. The boys hide in the toilet until Will's mum arrives to pick them up.

Hannah Fields

• Hannah appears in Series 2 Episode 2. She is discussed when it is found that Simon has received a Valentines card from her. She then appears later in the episode at the under 18's disco where she attempts to give Simon a hand job before he was attacked by Danny Moore.

Kerry

• Kerry or 'big Kerry' is a friend of Tara's whom Will unwillingly went on a date with. Although not attracted to her because of her height, he stays with her in the hope that according to Simon he may get a blowjob from her. Unsuccessful, he tries to break-up with her at Neil's party, but is thrown out because it turns out that her father had died recently (without Will knowing), and Will has offended her in trying to defend himself.

James

• James is Carli's boyfriend in the film. An obnoxious club rep, he runs Simon over with a quad, steals his clothes and threatens Jay with violence. Carli breaks up with him at the boat party and he runs into Jay and Jane. He mocks Jane's weight and demands drugs from Jay. Jay gives him a €20 note that had been concealed in his anus to be used as a bribe for 'corrupt foreign police' when necessary, resulting in James unknowingly walking around with faeces on the end of his nose for the rest of the day. (He doesn't seem to notice this as women he tries talking to move away from him.).

Alistair Scott

• Alistair is a wheelchair-bound student, who suffered a kidney failure, and for whom the Rudge Park school charity fashion show was organised. Despite being very popular, he is short tempered and unpleasant, and throws tantrums when upset by Will, who tries to usurp the fashion show because he believes it is too vain to be a suitable charitable event.

The Tramp

• A Scottish tramp who lives in an alleyway beside the nightclub the boys go to. When Simon is unable to enter because of his trainers, he reluctantly trades shoes with him to get in, only to find that they are soaked with urine. Carli notices this, and leaves Simon, unflattered. Simon returns to him after leaving the club, to discover that his new trainers are also now saturated with urine.

Angry Neighbour

• A man whose front garden is frequently vandalized by Jay and Neil. At one point he catches them and arrives at Will's house next day to try and punish them, but instead informs Will's mother, who has just arrived home.

Drug Dealer

• Played by Doc Brown.

• When the group are looking for drugs at the gig after Jay lied about being able to get drugs for them in the Series 3 episode "The Gig And The Girlfriend", Jay and Neil are attempting to find a drug dealer at the gig, they suddenly see a man giving someone something discreetly that they assume is drugs, and so they walk over to him. When Jay asks him for drugs, the guy asks him why they came to him. Neil tries to explain to him that they saw him dealing but he presumes that they think he is a drug dealer because he is black. In the end, the man supplies them with weed and then tells them to 'fuck off'. Unfortunately for him, however, Jay turns back to him and asks him to roll up the joint for them, diminishing their image.

Nicole

• Nicole is Neil's girlfriend who works with him at Asda. During the holiday in Malia, he tries to be faithful to he by keeping his contact with women to a limit. At the boat party, Neil tells Lisa that Nicole dumped him by text, and Lisa becomes his new girlfriend. When he arrives back in Britain, he sees Nicole (who had not really dumped him), grabs Lisa's hand and the two run as fast as they can, leaving behind a confused Nicole.

Mrs. D'Amato

• Mrs. D'Amato is Carli's mother. She only appears in the series one episode Bunk Off, when the boys are waiting outside the off-license for Will. She is apparently very nosy, listening into her daughter's phone calls, and forbidding her to go to pubs.

Sophie

• Sophie is Tara's sister. She is incredibly mean and is suspicious of Simon and Will. She throws out Will, Simon, Jay and Neil from her house when Jay breaks into her room at night whilst drunk and attempts to have sex with her and her roommate Heike, Neil urinates while sleeping in Heike's bed, Will eats one of her plants for a dare/dinner and Simon starts acting strangely sexual with Tara.

Heike

• Played by Ambrosine Falck.

• Heike is Sophie's foul-mouthed Dutch roommate. Jay attempts to have sex with her and Sophie, but is thrown out along with the rest of the boys.

Nicos

• Played by David Chrysanthou.

• Nicos is Alison's boyfriend. Will finds him having sex with another woman, at which point he threatens to beat Will up. Alison sees him with the other woman and breaks up with him, running off in tears. Before he leaves, he punches Will in the stomach.

The University Boys: The Bombardier, The Commander and The Admiral

• Alan is Simon's father. He constantly reminds Simon (and the other boys) of his sex life, including that of before his marriage to Pamela.

Andrew Cooper

• Andrew is Simon's younger brother, with whom he often argues. He has been seen to outsmart Simon on more than one occasion.

Mrs Cartwright

• Mrs Cartwright is Jay's mother. She often unwittingly interrupts Jay while he is doing things in private, such as masturbating or looking at his fake ID.

Terry Cartwright

• Terry is Jay's overweight and abusive father. He has poor toilet hygiene, and laughingly ridicules Jay's attempts at approaching girls. Despite being condescending towards Jay, he is actually very easy-going and seems to get along well with the group, especially Will and Simon. He enjoys revealing to them that all of Jay's stories about his alleged numerous sexual experiences are lies.

Kevin Sutherland

• Kevin is Neil's father, who is often the subject of rumours of his closet homosexuality. He vehemently denies this, despite the boys (bar Neil) – and their parents – being convinced that he is homosexual, with Will even calling him a "bumder" ("a cross between bummer and bender" according to Will) to his face. Despite the frequent accusations, there is no true evidence to the viewer or the characters that Kevin is actually a homosexual. In 1996, writer Iain Morris wrote and appeared in the comedy show Situations Vacant (later The Sitcom Trials) with comedian Kev F. Sutherland, after whom this character is most likely named.^{[citation needed]}

Katie Sutherland

• Katie is Neil's attractive elder sister who currently lives at home with the Sutherlands, along with her boyfriend.

Will's Dad

• Will's father, Mr. Mckenzie, is mentioned several times in the series, but is not seen until the film. Prior to the events of the series, he had an affair with a work experience girl named Susie, who is only four years older than Will. This lead to him divorcing Polly and moving away. Polly could not afford to continue sending Will to private school and moved him to Rudge Park Comprehensive. By the events of the movie, he is married to Susie. He did not invite Will to the wedding, due to his social awkwardness, which he often makes fun of. At the end of the film, Will sends him a picture of himself with his new girlfriend Alison, which brings him to realise that he can finally feel proud of his son.

Susie Mckenzie

• Susie is Mr. Mckenzie's second wife and Will's stepmother (being four years older than him). It is known that Susie and Will's father have married twice; with Will not being invited to their second wedding because of his social awkwardness.

Jay's Sister

• Jay has a younger sister in the film. Following their grandfather's death, she walks in on him masturbating, which she is not shocked by. This suggests that it is a regular occurence. Will had previously stated in the season one episode Xmas Prom that Jay had a sister who would "get fingered for a bet", but it is unclear if this is the same sister.

Unseen characters

Katie Sutherland's boyfriend

He is first mentioned in the Episode 'Thorpe Park' and works as a cashier at a BP Garage (although the boys mistakenly assume that he is a mechanic).

The Headmaster - Mr Hopkins

The school rector, Mr Hopkins, dictates rules/events to Gilbert and the other year heads. Gilbert sarcastically refers to him as having "infinite wisdom". Although listed as an unseen character, he actually has a speaking role in a deleted scene, which can be found on the Series 1 DVD, where he is played by actor Martin Ball.

Sadie Cunningham

Sadie is a girl in Jay's registration class, and he often steals things out of her bag such as hair removal cream which is used to remove Will's pubic hair while he is asleep in the common room. This results in Will placing a wig in his underwear. He also steals an invite card to Louise Graham's birthday party so the rest of the group believe him that they are invited to Louise Grahams party.

Jack Stephens

Neil mentions that he dropped a ruler next to Miss Timms.

Chris Groves

In the first episode of Series 2, Jay mentions that he has a mate in Year 13 by this name. He mentions his name again in the Series 3 preview. Due to the outlandish nature of Jay's claims, it's questionable whether he even exists, since Simon had never heard of him.

Paul Keenan

In the first episode of Series 3, 'The Fashion Show' he is supposed to be modelling with Charlotte Hinchcliffe in the 70s disco theme but he drank a bottle of vodka in the staff toilets and passed out because he was so nervous, so Will took his place instead after criticising the Fashion Show by saying it was "exclusive vanity".

Chris Yates

In the first episode of Series 3 'The Fashion Show' he is supposed to be modelling with Carli D'Amato in the 'Sexy Finale' Theme in which he had to wear speedos, DM's, a tophat and a leash. But according to Carli, his back was disgustingly hairy so she sacked him. He can actually be seen in the episode, if one looks behind Carli whilst she is talking to Simon, he can be seen in the back ground with a hairy back, technically making him a 'one off' character.

Saucy Asda Karen

Neil mentions in the Series 3 finale that he had sex with a woman at her house after flirting with each other at a supermarket. He also notes that she was likely twice his age. He receives a text message from her saying that "the test was positive", making Neil and the rest of the group think that he got her pregnant, however she later texts back to a prank text sent by Simon, saying the test was positive for Chlamydia, not pregnancy. Her name is revealed to be Karen, due to Neil having her as 'Saucy Asda Karen' on his phone.

Steve D'Amato

Steve is Carli's father. Carli tells Simon that he went ballistic when Simon vandalised their driveway, and Mr. Cooper tells Simon that Steve threatened to "fuck him up" when he sneaks into his young son's Chris' bedroom in the middle of the night which he mistook for Carli's.

Neil's Mum

Neil's mother is mentioned several times in the series. She is divorced from Neil's father, Kevin. Neil claims that she was in a difficult place, though many assume the reason for the divorce was Kevin's supposed homosexuality. She has since dated a man similar to Kevin, leading Neil to believe that she has a type. She bought Neil a motorbike for his eighteenth birthday, but Jay crashed it shortly afterwards. She is the only parent among the four boys who is never seen.
