William “Skipper” Beck (1960 – September 11, 2009) was an American businessman and the co-owner of the NBA basketball team, the Charlotte Bobcats.

On September 11, 2009 Beck was flying by himself in a Cirrus SR22 when it crashed at a local airport in South Carolina. The airplane took off from the airport but shortly into the flight crash landed and caught fire. Beck died instantly in the crash.[1][2] He had previously flown from New Jersey to Rock Hill, South Carolina that week.
