[edit] Awards and Sustainable Energy Use

The school is an Eco School and were presented the Ashden Award for Sustainable Schools 2007 by Al Gore for whole-school commitment to practical energy saving. They received £15,000 - which was spent on a J.P. Joule Positive Energy Garden, with a Labyrinth, made out of Box Hedging [1]

They have received the David Bellamy Conservation Award for Environmental Cleanliness 2005, with £8,000 which was spent on a new wildlife garden, with a Pond, insect hotel and a Hedgehog 'house'. [2]

They have a Solar PV Array on the roof of the main building, which generates electricity for the school in the summer.

[edit] Twin Schools

The school is twinned to Gordon Road Girls' School and Vumokuhle School in Durban, South Africa with the Afritwin link. The schools contact with each other using Skype. [3]

Woodheys has been setting up links with Mary E. Piggot Primary School in Antigua and Barbuda. [4]
