Xavier Serbiá (born July 24, 1968), is a former member of the boy band Menudo who is now financial commentator, syndicated columnist and personality.
[edit] Early years
Serbiá, born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, joined Menudo in 1980 and participated with Menudo in Una Aventura LLamada Menudo and a soap opera. Serbia was replaced by Ray Reyes at Menudo in 1983, and later on, went to try a solo career.
In 1986, Serbiá participated in Puerto Rican television's comedy series La Pension De Dona Tere. In 1987, he joined fellow former Menudos Farrait and Johnny Lozada in a group named Proyecto M. In 1989, he hosted a Spanish version of Remote Control for Puerto Rico. He was offered to join some of the ex Menudos in 1998 for a comeback tour named El Reencuentro, but he declined.

Serbiá is a best seller author “Four Steps to Wealth” published by Santillana. Serbia is the featured writer on Yahoo! Finance in Spanish in his weekly very popular weekly “Conexión Dinero” series and blogs, Serbia is also a Personal Financial Editor for the "Money Matters" section of "Siempre Mujer" magazine, published by Meredith Corporation.
Serbiá's columns are published by El Diario la Prensa New York Serbia, El Nuevo Día Puerto Rico, Ser Padres. To the International Center for Journalists Xavier Serbia was the instructor in online courses in Spanish on covering personal finance for Hispanic journalists and U.S. journalists covering finance issues.
Serbiá also launched XavierSerbia.com, a Spanish language financial site. The site include his opinions, videos, and Q&A financial section.
In 2003, Serbiá was elected by NBC-Telemundo and Ford, to host the business series El Camino Al Triunfo where he performed as writer, advisor and host. He also appeared as a commentator on such Telemundo Network shows as “Noticiero Nacional Telemundo’,“Noticiero 47 NY”, “Esta Mañana” and “América en Vivo”, “Maria Elvira Live” among others.
Serbiá has a Master’s Degree in Financial Economics from Trinity College in Connecticut. He completed an MBA with a concentration in Finance. Also he passed Level I of the CFA exam.
