SAP Xapp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence
SAP Xapp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence or xMII is part of xApps an SAP AG product in the NetWeaver suite. The technology has been applied to a wide range of industries and applications. It supports SAP's adaptive manufacturing strategy. It has evolved from technology acquired when SAP purchased Lighthammer in 2005.
While not an MES it is typically used to link a shop floor system with an ERP and provide portals to information from plant floor applications and systems.
It is done in realtime and helps the business to track the production and estimate the profits/losses.
The SAP xMII leverages advanced Web server technology to extract data from multiple data sources, aggregate the data at the server, transform it into a business context, and personalize and deliver results to users. The user community can include existing personal computers running Internet browsers, wireless PDAs, or other business applications.

xMII 11.5 is not supported. According to PP / MII Support Consultant, SAP Active Global Support, the Mainstream Extended Maintenance ended on 30.10.2008 for version 11.5. It means that no fixes can be provided. They recommend upgrade to MII version 12.0 or 12.1; these ones are available in the SAP Service Marketplace.
