Xuanwu District is a district of the city of Nanjing in Jiangsu province, China. Xuanwu District is an urban centre located in the north-eastern part of Nanjing. It is the site of the Nanjing Municipal Government.

Xuanwu District has a well-developed education system with more than 40 colleges and research institutes, including Southeast University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing Forestry University and Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences. More than 70 academics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering are located in Jiangsu Province, almost half of them in Xuanwu District.

Transportation in Xuanwu District is convenient. Nanjing Metro Line 1 runs through the district from South to North. Line 2, which is under construction, will connect the district from East to West. Within the district, there are also several main lanes and tunnels connecting to the Shanghai-Nanjing railway and loop expressway. It takes 20 minutes from Xuanwu District government to Nanjing Railway Station and one hour to Nanjing Lukou Airport.

Xuanwu District is also famous for its tourists attractions. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Xuanwu Lake are both located in Xuanwu District. The green cover is more than 58 percent. Total of scenic sports are 23 within this district. Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang's Mausoleum is listed in UNESCO's account of world cultural relics.
