Over Israel's short history many members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been captured and are considered to be missing in action (MIA). Due the the Arab captors not following the Geneva Convention and the refusal to allow visits of the Red Cross little information is known about their current status.
The following MIAs but presumed to be alive:
- Missing in action since 10 October 1973:
- Zeev Rotshik
- Three IDF tankers declared missing after the Battle of Sultan Yacoub in Lebanon on 12 June 1982:
- Zechariah Baumel[1]
- Tzvi Feldman
- Yehuda Katz
- IDF F-4 Phantom II navigator lost over Lebanon on 16 October 1986:
- IDF conscript who disappeared on duty in the Golan Heights on 17 August 1997:
- IDF soldier who was captured near Kerem Shalom by several Palestinian organizations on 25 June 2006:
