[edit] About the chain
Because of having "yellow cab" in its name, many thought of the company as a taxi business. But the name is actually a reference to the way it frequently uses the colors black and yellow, a pattern seen on taxi cars.[1] While much of the ingredients to their pizzas come from the Philippines, the cheese is purchased from either Australia or New Zealand.[2] The company's delivery service uses Vespa scooters.
In addition, Yellow Cab operates a sister restaurant called Army Navy Burger Burrito, which specializes in hamburgers and burritos with a military motif. Some branches of Army Navy are designed to resemble a Quonset hut.
[edit] Involvement in motorsports
Yellow Cab Pizza Co. sponsors a team that participates in auto racing. Members of the team include actor Ryan Agoncillo and Alex Perez, who has won three racing titles.[3] The chain's founder, Eric Puno, is a fanatic of racing.[4]
They endorse contestants in motorcycle racing. Among them is Glenn Aguilar, an 11-time national champion.[5]
[edit] Lawsuit
In 2008, Yellow Cab Pizza filed a suit against Green Cab Pizza Haus (later renamed Green Avenue Pizza) for using a logo very similar to theirs. The case ended in Yellow Cab's favor and their competitor was forced to pay a total of ₱400K.[6]
